Today has been a VERY good day.

Started off pretty meh, had a lunch shift but was pretty hungover. But this evening I got to spend 3 hours with this lil rascal:

Had a very exciting morning.

Went to collect my Olympic 2012 Games Maker Uniform.

Obtained:

1 jacket – purple and orange
2 pairs of socks – grey
2 tee-shirts – purple and orange
1 pair of trainers – grey and orange
2 pairs trousers – beigehh
1 drinking bottle – black
1 baseball cap – purple with orange trim
1 Swatch watch – orange
1 small shoulder bag – purple and orange
1 umbrella – orange

The uniform came in 3 basic sizes;  small, medium and large, though I saw xsmall and xlarge sizes floating around. We could try them on in a large cubicled changing area.

I was started with a medium by the nice lady there and decided to stay with a medium. I could have tried  various sizes but to be honest couldn’t be bothered. It looked pretty terrible whatever. It would have looked bad smaller, it would have looked bad bigger. As it was, it was a bit baggy in places (better than being a bit small) but quibbling between small and medium  would have been like  quibbling between a 15-man or 20-man execution squad; largely irrelevant either way. Not that being a Games Maker volunteer is anything like facing an execution squad of course, since I expect being a Games Maker volunteer will have its moments; summary execution or similar having none.

Anyhow, in its terribleness, the uniform is a great leveller. I saw no-one looking good in it.

I’ve now almost finished my Training. There is only one session of venue-specific training left.  I’m very fired up. I’m ready to give 110%, push myself to my absolute limit, go the extra mile, go above and beyond. However I’m a bit worried about my Games Maker information folder. Everyone else I’ve met seems to have made it to the Orientation Training at Wembley Stadium back in February, the one I missed because I got confused and deleted the e-mail. They all got a special 2012 Games Maker folder to put their paperwork in. I didn’t of course because I wasn’t there. So I’ve been making do with a folder with small robots on from Paperchase. I’m wondering if I ought to change it to one with union jacks on or something, or maybe a plain white one, so it’s not as obvious.
