The computer system (SAP) at work is going from bad to unusable.  For the last week is has been horribly slow, taking between 10 mins to 2 hours to print out an invoice.  Now it has pretty much stopped working entirely and we have run out of manual invoices....  

All we had from IT is "they realise there is a problem and they are working on it"  That was 5 days ago and we have heard nothing.

I didn't think it was legal for to own silencers.

You need a special licence for rifles and pistols and it's very very illegal to make your own, but on a shotgun aparently it's fine with just the standard licence.

I got new stuff! Workmate, g-clamps, drill bits, paint brushes and few switches and cabling. These are essentially toys for my inner child.

As someone who can speak for the other side, trust me that your IT Bods are probably working flat out to work out what's happening and resolve this, you've not been given any info because they have nothing concrete to give you, and giving out incomplete or incorrect information/ETA's is worse than saying nothing at all.

I'm not so much pissed off at the IT guys, it's more the fact that no one, not even the area managers know what the hell is going on.

Today the computers were back to normal (ie. just about usable).  Apparently a patch of some kind was applied.

There was a major branch manager's meeting yesterday where gossip was caught up on, senior management have now woken up to the fact that they may of been taken for a ride and our parent company are asking questions; Apparently all our servers are being transferred to Germany, the roll out of SAP to head office has been put back indefinitely.  The cost of the new system has already gone from the originally quoted £10 million to around £15 million the company is suing the consultants who recommended SAP

We are also discontinuing around half our kitchen ranges.  This is a good thing.

Was told today I had to work Good Friday.  Told by my wife I can't as she is working (and earning more money than me).  This is not a good thing, I foresee a free and frank exchange of opinions with my manager tomorrow.

Why am I not surprised that this SAP thing is going belly-up while costs ascend by the millions. :\ Incidentally, do you deliver kitchens to Germany?

I'm a bit shattered. Been moving the last of my stuff out of the old flat yesterday evening, I was home at half past midnight, carried up my mattress and collapsed onto it. This morning has been spent viciously cleaning the old flat. All I now need to do is hand the keys back to the caretaker. Oof. Now to settle this ordeal with work. I'll probably just end up taking half a day off. Still oof.

Also I'll probably only have proper internet at the new place starting the 7th. So until then it's tethering my phone and limiting myself to non-latency-critical internet activities. Yay?

Cuba is pretty great, been out and about in old Havana today. All the old buildings and cars are cool, though it all feels a bit run down like it's had better days a decade or two ago but had no maintenance since. Authoritarian restriction of internet access sucks quite a bit though.

Off to Cayo Lagos at 4 am tomorrow, should be some rocking beaches.

If ye will excuse me, ladies and gents, I'm going to disappear for about 6 weeks to study for, then sit some exams. So ye won't have to worry about any mad Irishmen falling from the sky for a while.

P.s. The highlander team should make sure to follow the advice on Omni's spray. I hear the first part relates to the second.
