Parents never appreciate all the hard work babies do for them.

Babies are the cutest when the sleep, everybody knows that, even babies, so sleeping while you are awake is a service.
Problem is, when you sleep, you're not cute (source: tommy), which makes the baby cry!

A very up and down couple of weeks.  Made some mistakes at work where I should of known better than not to double check someone else's word/measuring.  Lost my wedding ring on Sunday, don't have a clue where it is.  Hopefully it is in the house somewhere.  I have barely removed it in nearly 8 years and I feel like I'm missing a limb.

On the up side in my NVQ meeting this morning I did some exams and came out with 2 BTECs in just under an hour.  Degree level material it wasn't.

Got a frantic call from Mrs Bystander today saying the car tax ran out tomorrow and we hadn't had a reminder and couldn't find the registration documents for the car.  She'd rung up the DVLA and an evil bitch of a woman told us they had never received the old registration docs, we were not the official owners and we would have to go to Maidstone (a 120 mile round trip) to fill in a form, and no we couldn't us the car because she had flagged it up as not officially having an owner and we wouldn't be insured.

It also turns out that I'd never sent our previous car's registration forms off.  It was bought by my in laws and they'd managed to tax it online with the form which had been sent to our house.

Fortunately I managed to get the afternoon off work, I had to drive home, pick up my father in law, drive all the way to Maidstone and we arrived at the DVLA office.  It was packed but strangely calm.  Turns out someone had actually thought about the waiting system and they actually had a guy outside the glass compartments speaking to people and helping them fill out their forms whilst we waited, so although there were about 15 people in front of us we actually struggled to fill in the forms before we were called to the window.  If we hadn't succeeded filling out the forms we wouldn't of been sent to the back of the queue, they would of just put us on the next available member of staff.  Unlike the main Swansea DVLA superbase it was inhabited by real human beings and not people rejected from the North Korea communist party for their lack of human feeling.

Turns out the car tax for a 2001 1.8 Vauxhall Zafira is £143 for 6 months, a 2000 model of exactly the same car is £118 when the tax was calculated on the engine size and not the emissions.   Ouch.
