Living in an old pub? Is it closed or did they tell you you could stay there, because you were there more than at home?

Ahmen!

Repent sinners & rejoice! For salvation is at hand!

Sorry, a little tired and I'm not entirely sure as to where that train of thought is headed. It's a little odd. But I find myself thinking "This is not my life". And I don't know why.

Must be time for bed. I find late night tired trains of thought to be a beautiful but dangerous things Smiley

I come bearing sad news...

After having faithfully served me since March 2008, and through i40 and i43,
at some point between yesterday evening and today,
my laptop's logic board took its terminal breath. Cry

It was there for me, bringing the web's welcome distraction during boring university courses.
Suffered with me through coursework and theses. Provided me with the joy of Games,
compiled inconcievably many lines of code,  and bore fruit to many a presentation.

Early 2008 MacBook Pro,
Requiescat in Pacem.

-- since it's an 8600M fault (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377), I'll at least try and get it repaired though. Wink
Fortunately, I have a full backup of my files from Saturday, so I didn't lose too much.
And no, I don't want to remove the hard drive because of said repair attempt. Still, I has a sad.

Bummer. But if I'm reading that right, your getting a free repair? If that's the case, then SWEET!

A fun packed day for me (not really). Drive past site to go and get parts out of locker because locker is about 3 miles nearer to the site as the crow flies vs the locker less than 2 miles from my home. Arrive on site and find that while the label on the box is correct, the content is not. And a shame that the area manager was stood over my shoulder at the time.

That was the morning. The afternoon was a straight up remove old hard drive and run rebuild disk. While providing much distraction and entertainment for the staff and customers in a chain of high street fashion retailer in Cirencester.

The weekend is getting ever closer. This is a happy affair. The 11 days of hell that will follow, not so wild about.

In other news. Littlest sister is very happy as her boyfriend proposed marriage. She accepted. I am very chuffed.

Maree heard from her work today, she's been offered a place at an alternative location with much nicer people and easier clients.  Her old boss is now on "extended leave" and shit has well and truly hit the fan and splattered all the way up to head office.

The Zafira now has a new cam belt and cat courtesy of the in laws, it runs much better now, like it did on the test drive.

I've just had 2 days off and I'm off next week too.  Yay for using up holiday!

Closed Sad

More updates on this Sky Saga, after phoning parcelforce it seems that my parcel wasn't stolen after all, despite the misleading website. The label was misformed and so the delivery guy couldn't find my address, thus it was returned to sender.
Still, Sky are fucking about and haven't posted my replacement out yet >:/ I'm not a happy bunny, my line finally gets activated tomorrow and I'm probably going to have to wait another week for this to all be sorted, and then I have to try and get credited for the delay.

Well life is full of dilemmas.

So driving back home, I've got the windows on the car open. As it's a little muggy. I'm in a great mood, as it's nearly the end of the working week, and it's a weekend off. But my happy place is shattered in less than a blink of an eye as I find myself having to make a quick decision about the immediate future. This is due to something small and black & yellow in color bouncing off my cheek and then falling between my legs.

Now I hate and detest wasps. If some one was silly enough to give me God like powers, then more than likely the first act of the Ginger Almighty will be to eradicate the entire wasp species. Yes I was stung as a child. That may make me a little biased.

So not wishing to be stung in the nadgers, I begin an experiment to see how difficult it is to drive a car at speed while not sitting in the seat. As it turns out, it's not an optimal driving style. The seat belt does tend to hinder things a bit. Also having your head squashed against the roof does tend to make looking through the window screen a little challenging. Especially as the road has a nice selection of bends, toughs and blind summits. I eventually find a bit of road that looks like it should be possible to pull over enough to permit the other drivers past. And seeing as rush hour had just started, there was no shortage of other road users. So this meant that I was unable to dive out of the car quite as fast as I would have liked. Unless I wanted to dive into the front of a fast approaching car.

Eventually the road ran out of car to send my way, and I was about to escape. And there in the middle of my drivers seat was a tiny little wasp wiggling away. So before the little sh*t could recover from it's high speed impact with my face, I evicted him from the car with the aid of a couple of ID cards. And then proceeded to vent some of the adrenalin backwash I was suffering by stomping him into a fine film all over the road.

Realizing that I was probably over reacting a bit, and also as it wasn't possible to identify the corps any more, I got back in the car and drove the rest of the way home. And yes the windows were very up & closed. But the car has a snow flake button.

So that made the dive home a lot more exciting than normal Smiley

Phoned up sky again,  now the automated system recognises i've made loads of calls to support so I get put straight through to decent people. Spoke with a nice chap who thinks he's sorted it all out, so my stuff will be sent out, on monday, via next day delivery to a trusted address.

We shall see.
Line was activated today, so when I get home i'll be able to check with my own router what speeds it syncs at, but just won't be able to get access :/

Working saturday and then spending two nights at my parents anyway, so it's not too bad to wait for tuesday.
