Made it back home from i43 in one piece, last time i'm ever driving when my body thinks it should be sleeping though, had to stop twice for a rest + coffee because I kept losing focus with my eyes and drifting off for half a second or so and finding myself deviating from the lines. The stretch of M5 between Birmingham and Bristol where there isn't any lighting was the worst, once dawn broke I was OK.

YAY! That's one home safe & sound. Yes that bit of the M5 is a bit dull in the dark.

Bad day,
Took the Zafira in to the local garage to diagnose the error light, turns out we need a new catalytic converter, cost around £400, plus for peace of mind we also need a new cam belt which comes in a slightly more reasonable £160.
Mrs Bystander is having mega problems with her work despite being on maternity leave. She's a care worker working with seriously disabled people and her immediate boss has decided to transfer her to another location (from where she had worked for 16 years) without bothering to inform her, she found out from her friend. She's naturally very upset and will not be going quietly.
Kids were acting up today, the end of the summer hols cannot come too soon....... and I'm at work 5 days a week.

You're probably wondering why we're standing here with a pile of money and no pants on.

£400? Last time I replaced a catalytic converter it only cost £90, that's ridiculous.

Bah, Phone line (with Sky) activated today ... but apparently (and no mention of this at time of sale) the Broadband (also with Sky) won't be activated until the 10th. RAGE. To top it off when i queried about the router delivery, they said it had already been signed for. But - and this is killed me - they can't tell me who signed for it due to data protection!
Getting another one sent direct to my workplace. I don't even care about the router itself, but Sky don't give you the ADSL username and password for use with a third party router, instead it comes preinstalled (think once you have their router there is a way to extract the info though).

Spent most of yesterday installing a TV aerial in the loft to get Freeview in the kitchen (Sky in the rest of the house) so Mrs Bystander can watch something other than kids programs. Turns out that you need an aerial on top of a long pole attached to the chimney to have any hope of getting the slightest signal in our area. All that blood, sweat and unnecessary holes in the ceiling for nothing.
On the up side the kids went back to school today. Summer holidays are way too long. Only 3 years till they are all at school/ in nursery.
Due to a miscalculation in staff holidays (and being 3 staff short) there were just 4 of us in work today (as opposed to a full head count of 12). Was quite busy. Found that SAP will only let us put 70 items on an invoice and a large kitchen can get to over 100 items....... Living the dream.... or was that nightmare?
