It's a peculiar one education. I still like the animated talk by Sir Ken Robinson. For me, education wasn't fun. Anything practical I could do. But academically I was useless. I picked up a handful of GCSEs at mainly "C" grade. Although I did get a "B/B" for science. I then went on to completely fail at A-level. From there I did half a BTEC national OND in electromechanical engineering. And from dropping out of that I ended up doing any job that would pay. So I could use a soldering iron, I could mill steel, I could move stuff in warehouses. So after a few years, my CV was a patchwork quilt of temp jobs. Eventually a friend of mine convinced me to come and join him at a company that did computerized till systems. There was a training as part of the job to become a software analyst for the help desk. I was only planning on staying 6 months, so that me and my mate could split the £200 for introducing a friend thing the company was running. I was there for over 3 years Eventually went on to be a field service engineer. And as the industry is some what incestuous, last night I was working on an evolved version of the kit I was originally trained on about 12 years ago, at an outlet in Centre Parks Longleat.

Mrs Bystander decided to clear out our loft today, something I hoped would be left to the next inhabitants of our house or our decendants.  There are 2 carloads of crap going to a local bootfair tomorrow (and a severe weather warning) and then, no doubt to a local tip.

Hopefully we'll get some spending money for our holiday on Monday

Managed to somehow slip this into conversation as I was serving some customers today after one of them made the mistake of saying that his mum is kind of "old school":

Fuck water cooling. Came home today to find that my pc wouldn't turn on, picked it up to I could have a better look at it and it started dripping on my leg. Turns out my Coolit ECO ALC had sprung a leak.

There wasn't too much water that I could see on the motherboard, so best case scenario is that I just need a new CPU cooler. It does seem to have given my gfx card a good soaking though, so I might need to change that too. I'm going to have a go at it with a hair dryer soon and hope that does enough so I don't have to replace everything.

I suppose the one good thing to take from this is that it happened now, rather than at i43 so I at last have some time to fix it. Oh and also, fuck water cooling

Have to pack up my Gaming PC tonight, along with clothes etc for a couple of weeks. Work this week is going to be a bit hectic, I'll be taking an overnight bag for tomorrow as we'll be there until late then likely hitting the pub and staying at a B&B.

Which reminds me, got some ironing to do, no TF2 for me tonight :/
