Today I did what I do every day, fight with SAP to drag invoices kicking and screaming from it's bloated and corrupt software.  The other day we tried to refund a builder £3000 (a canceled kitchen order) and somehow SAP took £6000 out his account.  The guy took it surprisingly well, he didn't kill anyone or smash up the place even after it took nearly a week to get the money back to him.  It doesn't help that all but one of our chip and pin machines have broken, we are unable to take account payments on a weekend and money regularly disappears off the system despite printing out invoices.  Its stock management software is awful and it looks like they too several wildly incompatible open source programs, got them sort of working together in IE6 and hired News of the World journalists to sell it.

I must be winning though I've done 66% of my target for the month already.

I used to work for a company that writes HR systems and we used to lose clients all the time to enterprise implementations of SAP. Never used to worry us because they would come crawling back after a year once they realised how terrible SAP was.

May have spoken too soon on the whole broadband thing, been running fine for a few days but somethings not right and my speeds today have dropped massively.

graaa, almost 6am, spent all morning tweaking my spare fileserver (ESXi on HP Microserver with an Ubuntu VM running ZFS-On-Linux)

So. Just so you know why I am pissed (as some of you missed my rant on the server last night)  basically the equivalent of a neighbour for the next 3 weeks asked me for our wifi password. Just like that with barely a please. I said no. "but it wouldn't cost you anything" which really pissed me off. I told him that if he did anything I would liable for it. He got mad gave me the finger and walked off. So yeah mens will die.

Today has been a good day.

Just had a lunch shift today which was mega busy, but we handled it really well, I was serving a table of 30 californian design students, some of which were very attractive. Landed a £30 tip of them which was baws. Overall I got £25 in tips for 3 hours work, not too shabby :3
Now I'm off for 6 days so I'm mega happy.
And to make it even better, the housemate went to Paris this morning for 6 days so no bitch about the house

Went wakeboarding in the evening, got a 30 minute private session due to some admin cockup which was pretty awesome, was allowed to hit up the box rail which was pretty sweet, and my ollies are getting better after numerous face plants.
Then after I finished, Jen did a 2 hour "Learn to Wakeboard" session which was entertaining to watch, though she faceplanted reeeeeeeally hard near the end. Came back with a bloody nose, and pink arms/hands where she'd given the water a hi five.
Oh, and I managed to record it Though she has threatened to rip off my testicles and place them in a jar if I ever upload it, so will at least give it time

In other news I'm heading to my parents for a week, so probably won't be on till next weeks frag fest

Reminds me that I was in PC World yesterday looking at laptops (I know, I know, the last place you should look for a decent gaming type laptop but I was curious)

The salesman seemed determined to steer me towards the Apple Macs, didn't seem to understand that I wasn't interested; had to say 'I'm a GAMER, a GAMER' several times loudly and clearly before he finally cottoned on and went 'Ahhhhh!'

Went wakeboarding again today and I hurt now for numerous reasons, one being that the other guys on the session didnt have that much of a go; one guy RQ after 20 minutes cos he couldnt do whatever it was he was trying to do, and the other guy was a Tennis player with a big match coming up so didn't want to injure/tire himself out. So out of the hour session, I was going for like 40 minutes, my arms are absolutely exhausted!

Secondly, on one of the turn around corner bits, the guy controlling the cable wasn't paying attention, so instead of stopping it, he carried on pulling me towards the dock. When you consider I'd just edged out really hard to build up a bunch of speed for the turn, meant I slammed full pelt into the dock. Realised what was about to happen so slowed myself as much as I could so wasn't as bad as it could have been but the back of my leg (the part the took the full force of the blow) is pretty sore, can already feel the bruise, so reckon that.s gonna be colourful in the next couple of days. On the plus side, when I tried to slow myself I made a mini tidal wave which soaked the guy controlling the cable, so revenge was quick

Jen took some videos on her phone, I shall review them and decide whether they are worthy of uploading (unfortunately she missed the crash)

you can run games on a mac with boot camp and they run pretty well. but you don't really need to when you can get a gaming laptop with windows on it with similar specs at half the price

SAP news latest.  Over £100,000 of account payments have disappeared off the system.  Our asshole SAP "expert" (basically a branch manager who lost his branch by being too incompetent and/or offensive) tried to blame us, put a payment on the system to condescendingly show us how to do it properly and we watched the money disappear in front of our eyes.

I'm off to buy a Porsche..... in Brazil 

Oh.... and PC World - Just say NO, in fact stay away unless you want to taunt the staff.
