Called up eBuyer for the thousanth time. Put the dial through then went to attend to a pressing biological matter, because eBuyer always takes a minute or two to answer the phone.

Anyway they answered immediately.

My sisters wedding is coming up so lots of drinking going on with relatives. Had 8 pints of my homebrew this morning, on top of red win and random pub lager.

Was messing around with overclocking a couple days ago and got something that seemed stable. Then yesterday my fps dropped from a constant 120 to 30 max (more like 5 - 10 or so) during 6v6. So spent the last 24 hours raging (at pretty much everyone who came near me) after being pretty sure I had broken/melted something and trying to figure out what. Mate came round to have a look and after 5 mins pointed out I hadn't fitted my new CPU fan properly and two of the clips had come undone - so apparently it was just throttling back cos it was getting too hot. ffffff!

If you had to screw the CPU cooler to the mainboard, then no; Pushpin coolers stick to the mainboard by pushing a pin (hence the name) down into a little plastic nipple which spreads a little in a vain effort to keep the cooler and fan from falling off the coolee, to wit, the CPU.

Don't think I've ever needed to screw one in either...I remember having to force clips. Whatever, it was tricky.

It's nice to be back home again at last. Returned from the merry land of Bedford. Bit of a mixed bag. Supposed to take Mum & Dad shopping. But they went AWOL. The phrase "Be there soon" is the beginning of much doom. After 3 and half hours I got board of waiting. So I went for a little drive. So I followed the old school bus route out to Sharnbrook. The place has got bigger. One of the fields now contains a housing estate. And the small woods appear to have turned into a multi-story car park. So continuing down memory lane, I decided to drive into Bedford town center. Typically when I go to visit my parents, I just go to their house. I've not been in the town center in years. All in all it's rather depressing. If you need your hair doing, or want to buy hair care products and then have a coffee, then Bedford has you well covered. Everything else seems a bit worn out, or in the process of closing down. Pigeon square has had all it's trees taken out, a resurfacing and a non-functioning water feature installed. The whirl pool generator has a broken handle. And the chiming flag stones look like a heavy truck has gone over them. So they don't work properly. There is also an odd sculpture that has been installed near Debenhams. It's called "Reflections of Bedford". Kind of apt really. It's a bit shonky & sereal. And there are holes in it where it hasn't been welded together that well.

On the bright side my favorite sweet shop is still trading. There is a Chinese and Japanese specialty shop selling all sorts of goodies. Food, clothing, trinkets. So after a fun chat with the staff, I brought myself a couple of ceramic lucky cats. One white, one yellow.

But back home again. Even though I had to do a detour. For some odd reason the A40 was closed at Oxford. Hay ho

Yes they came back. What had happened was a comedy of events. I had arranged to come and see them and take them shopping. Well, take Dad shopping for a birthday gift. But all in all, a nice day out was the intention. But unfortunately they had promised to look after the grandchildren, as their mother was having some dental work done, that should be finished by mid-day. But I'd booked holiday and I wasn't about to have my life screwed about with again. So half a day was better than nothing. But as is always the way, nothing is straight forward. The dental work turned out to be more like surgery to have the wisdom teeth removed. So consequently Mum & Dad couldn't leave the grandchildren, as their mother had come back in still stoned out of her tree on anesthetic (unsure of spelling - looked good on spell checker list), and had gone up to bed as soon as she got in. So they didn't bother to update me, and after 3 and a half hours I got board waiting. Figuring something had come up, I desided to make my own amusement. Not wishing to chase them up and cause a blazing row, zero contact seemed like the most logical option.

So it was over 5 hours after they had given me a call to say that they were "on their way home", that I got a call on my mobile as I was bimbeling around the town center. Not a particularly fun conversation. Opening up a conversation with a particularly stupid question of "Your not at home are you?" probably wasn't the best way to go. Well you've called me from you home's land line. I'm not in the house. My car isn't out front. What do you think? So a slightly fraught conversation.
