Not posted in here for a while but here goes!

Now 7 months into my first proper full-time job since graduating and my supervisors etc. all seem pretty happy with the work that I'm doing, even though personally I think I could be working harder/doing more - but when I tried to raise that with one of them (subtlely) he was like you're doing fine and are busy so no more work for you. I need to do something to really impress the MD of the company and save the company lots of money or significantly improve something in the next month or two by the time I have my next big meeting. He's still hardly ever spoken to me, but I want him to give me a pay-rise, so I guess I'd have to demonstrate that I'm worth one.

Getting on better with my supervisors at the University now - I think because my confidence with them has grown a bit and I feel a bit less like one of their students and more like a colleague. The second-to-last meeting I had with them I felt really stupid the whole time and it was really awkward. I also had my induction for my 'Masters of Science by Research and Dissertation' last week - so I should be a student again soon - WOOHOO! Unfortunately it doesn't mean I'll be turning up at work at midday really hungover every day of the week

Still doing website work on the side - too lazy to work in the evenings during the week and feel 'robbed' if I work at the weekends - somehow gotta fit it in around all of the gaming I'm doing somehow!

In non work related news - finished the watercooling on my PC, it's now exactly what I wanted with the radiator mounted properly on the top of the case etc. It's all blue and shiny inside.

Cooked a massive lasagne for dinner last night which will feed me for a few more days still and it managed to overflow out of the dish I cooked it in. Looked awesome.

I'm also on the hunt for a new car - fed up of having crappy old cars so been sort of looking around for something at about the £2k mark. At the moment I'm currently looking at Renault Clios...found a 2001 38k for £1350, a higher-spec 2005 47k for £1855 or I can buy my mum's Clio for £1500 (but I have to loan her £500 as well so she can get a new car) which is 2001 77k. Also have my Peugeot 106 '98 to sell - not sure how much I'm gonna get for that. No idea what to do - so any advice/help is appreciated

My mum just sold her fully loaded 9000 mile 2003 Seat Ibiza for £1500.  NOT amused, she could of easily got £3000 for it....or given it to me. 

Have a look on Gumtree, there are some awesome bargains amongst the crap.  I personally wouldn't go for a Clio, (beware, broken Renaults are hard/expensive to fix) you'd get better value going for something from the next class up, perhaps a Ford Focus, Honda Civic or a Vauxhall Astra.  You get more toys, more refinement and more space and the running costs are not much more.  If you can afford the insurance/tax on the larger engine models you could pick up a massive bargain.  I'd say ignore mileage and go with the general condition and service history of the car.

On the baby front Maree's induction was semi successful, she is getting "niggles" (her words for infrequent but what look like massively painful contractions).  If no baby appears by Thurs she going in again. 

We went for a walk on the beach after picking up the kids from school to see if we could speed things up, not much luck there but the weather was beautiful and the beach deserted.

Not keen on the Clio myself, My driving instructor had one and something about the seat/driving position does my back in. Get a Focus, they're awesome.

Anyway, my day was rubbish - Had trouble getting to sleep until around 5am, then was woken up at 9am and put to work by my family since we have a couple of building projects going on (replacing the beams and roof on an old stable block and building some more outdoor pens/runs for my mums Cat breeding business). Since my brother has all the manual skills he was doing the carpentry and I was stuck on skutwork duty all day - Shovelling and wheelbarrowing 7 tons of gravel up a hill, and helping lift other heavy objects.

I ache. And tomorrow morning it's going to feel even worse. Especially since there's more work to do :/

Still, the Rent and food is free so can't complain too much.

You really think I should get a focus? I was only really looking for a small car - so I was looking at fiestas (the new ones) and clio's - that sort of thing.

I want a car that's cheap to run (hence why I'm looking at small cars with fairly small engines ~1.2l mark - cheap for petrol and insurance) and is newer than my current car - so looking for something with power steering, electric windows etc. and preferably <10 years old.

£2k is about the maximum I want to spend on it.

Open to more suggestions - I don't really know what I'm doing as usually I havn't had much of a choice on cars - and have always had shit-heaps pretty much.

I used to drive a focus and I found it really enjoyable to drive, the seats are comfortable and you can sit in a good position, especially good for tall people. Also you're a grown up now, time for a big boy's car
