Up at 6am, in Bakewell by 8:30, start line by 9:58, 17km run through the hills by 12:20, cycle 15km (let down) and finish line by 2:20, awards ceremony at 4 (surprisingly nothing for our pair lol), pub by 5, fed by 6:30, Leeds by 8ish, showered and kit washed by 10, now me + beer = heaven

and blisters/aching knees galore !

For a Monday, it was awesome. No call outs. Just vet calls. And it was a nice sunny day.

Sat in an airport bar,travelling up to newcastle. Prices nearly gave me a heart attack - 3.65 quid for a bottle of tiger!

Bad day at work, started very well with a customer ordering £3000 worth of PVC windows off me.  I go to order them from head office and I'm told that the company, as of last Friday no longer do PVC windows.  This is a major WTF moment, PVC windows accounted for around 5% of our turnover last year, 10% of this years and I was basically hired to develop that side of the business.

Turns out that there had been an e-mail sent but it hadn't even been passed onto our area manager, let alone making it to branch level.  This really pissed everyone off in the branch, our branch manager (it was his birthday too) rang round all the other local managers and the area manager and spread the love.

Turns out the guy who had stopped our company from doing PVC had no choice and had merely fucked up by not telling anybody apart from other managers and directors at head office.  Someone had signed an exclusive deal with our timber window suppliers over a year ago which apparently forbid us from getting windows off anyone but them. (maybe the director who, according to company rumours has a large amount of shares in said window company).

All in all a crap day only brightened by the fact that when I got home there was a shiny new Sky router waiting for me.  Mrs Bystander now has her wireless broadband back and our phones are working again.

Well not really your fault, mate. Shame about the lost revenue, but ultimately stuff like this happens, the bigger the company the more it happens. So what will you be responsible for now, that the PVC is gone?

Fortunately PVC was only a small part of our business, it's just really pissed me off they way they failed to tell anyone. 

It's still a good company to work for and I probably work in one of the best branches with a really good team.

Not a bad day all in all. Nice man from British gas turned up and checked my boiler. Apparently all is good & groovy. Although I may want to consider getting a "Magna Booster" fitted. Or to put it another way, I could spend £259.00 inc VAT on getting an extra gadget fitted to the boiler that would mean that it's service life would be longer and less fault filled. I will give this serious consideration.

But the big dilema of the day is question 20 of the "Houshold Questionaire 2011 Census".

So tempted to put "Jedi". Although "Sith" would probably be more apropriate. Still have the desire to choke the shit out of something at times. At least I can fill the thing in online. So YAY for not having to use a pen
