Got my forklift license, the sneaky examiner didn't actually tell me I was doing the test till I'd passed.  It pissed down the whole time.  I got soaked.

Do I feel confident to drive a forklift?  Hell no.

Also got a call from my former boss who'd lost one of my customer's that had left a £1500 deposit and disappeared, I was also offered my old job back.  I refused.

There used to be an old forklift on the farm I worked at, I could never get my head around that fucking thing. If you can drive it without skewering anything you have mad props from me Tongue.

My poor commuting Ford Focus died this morning, Lots of smoke and rattley noises and no power. Took it to the Diesel specialist and they think the Camshaft is gone which I'm guessing is going to cost north of £400.

It also means I've had to come to work in my weekend Focus which at 20mpg is going to cost me about £20 a day just in petrol. GRRRrrrr....

The kids and I went to see some horses together with 3 other childminder and their 9 kids. 5 of 9 kids decided to cry most of the time... When we where on our way back, Paul called (he is ill and at home), that the woman from the youth wellfare office is at our appartement, when we will be back  Shocked Shocked Wth?? Well we went home as fast as we could. But it wasn't anything bad, she was in the neighbourhood and decided to pay me a visit and see how I work with the kids and ask some things I have experience with about that money from the unemployement office.

So the kids went to bed, I started cooking and suddelny I felt like I'm getting a fever (I'm ill too for some days now, but not that bad except for some coughing. So I measured the temperature: 38,5°C at 12 o'clock. 20 minutes later: 39,1°C... So I called the parents that they have to pick up the kids and that I'm not working tomorrow. So the temperature gets higher and higher, I can barely breath and my doctor doesn't open before 16:00 o'clock  Cry

Okay.. enough crying for one day Cheesy Good for you: Power can play on my computer.

Gotten down with a case of manflu as well. Shitty day. I hope I'll be well enough to go to the university ball on Saturday which I'm really looking forward to.

On the plus side, the monitor I bought for my dad (his birthday's on monday) arrived at the post office today since it didn't fit into the self-service post box. To those that want to know, it's a BenQ EW2420. Yay speedy amazon deliveries -- I ordered it on tuesday.

Saw my dad for the first time since September due to snow and flu.  He'd got me a proper wax jacket for Christmas, the sort that the upper classes wear and is impervious to all climate conditions and (allegedly) small arms fire.  It has a poacher's pocket and smells of oil.

I shall now go and shout at poor people.

Went to see La Soiree last night, absolutely amazing. If you get a chance and can afford it, go see it, can't recommend it enough.

Today was shit. Left London with plenty of time to get back to Brighton before I was officially due to start my shift (5:15pm), however I was on "standby" for the lunch shift, which basically means I have to come in incase someone can't make it for whatever reason, but generally it's not an issue. However not today -.- Stupid cunt bitch face from work (a girl I don't like generally, and especially not after today), decided not to come in, so meant I had to cover. The trains however were a fucking mess. I left Kensington Olympia at approx 11:20pm, usually I would expect to be back in Brighton at about 12:30ish, meaning I would be in time for my cover shift (1pm-4pm), but for some reason there were no direct trains, so had to go on a mini expedition. Took almost 3hrs in total -.- So got to work late, worked a busy shift. Got let off for my hour break, walked home (bought Halo:Reach on the way), got home, looked at the watch, sat for 2 minutes, picked up bag, back to work.
The evening shift was pretty sucky too, busy and not helped by this bitch not being there so we were short staffed. Meant we couldn't get any of the cleaning duties done during the shift so had to do them all after, which meant I got out at about 2am =/ My legs are killing me.

TL;DR
La Soiree - awesome, go see

Stupid Spanish bitch from work not showing up = me having a shit day

EDIT: oh, and I'm on standby again tomoro lunch, which is when this girl is meant to be working again. If she doesn't show up, will mean I will be working 1pm-11:30pm. Fucking great

That really bites Sad Hope you have a better day dude.

Well Sunday was a good day. For a start, it was a day off. Which is always nice. Especially as my rota sequence is about to change, meaning I'm about to start my 10 days in a row again. So how did I spend my 24 hours of working freedom? Well that's simple. I went round my brothers house and did a bit of DIY.

It's his first home / mortgage, so all very exciting. And so on the wish list was things like install a door bell. Plumb in the new washing machien. Install a phone socket in the second bedroom / office. Fit some cat5 between the office and the living room. And install some speaker wiring for the surround sound.

I decided to start with the "easy" job of plumb in the washing machien. Pha! So for starters the transit bolts were bent. So they were fun to remove. Thankfully Beco had supplied some blanking hole fillers. All went well till the fourth one. Didn't go in cleanly and fell into the cavity. So I took off the back pannel, saw the blanking plate, reached in but discovered too late that Beco don't de-burr the leathaly sharp edges of the metal sheeting. So the inside of my wrist had 4 neat "V" shaped holes gouged out of it. Now I know it's bad when I don't swear. 15 minuets later all is good with the world (sort of). The bleeding has just about stopped. A bandage of kitchen roll and decorator's "Frog Tape" has been improvised and is working well. So much for starting on the easy job.

So the washing machien goes in without any more shenanigans. Hoses are tightened and retightened. No leaks so far. Although a bigger acess hole could be used in the side of the kitchen cabinet. Sod that. That sounds like another "easy job". So with that done, it soon turns out that the "easy job was removing the old door bell system. A cobeled together remote door opener with video camera. Totaly in the wrong place unless your guests are 7 foot tall. So a simple remote unit is installed and I'll give the old unit a good home because I'm too lazy to go down the stairs to find out who is at the door.

With that done it was on to the fun and games of cuting holes in the wall and using some clever fiberglass rods to pull wires through the hollow interior walls. The phone socket was a bit of a bugger. I was originally going to daisy chain it off the back of the socket in the bedroom. But that was on an exterior wall. So where the plaster board had been dabbed in place, there just happened to be a sodding great lump of adhesive right over the wire. Time for a rethink. So I got lucky ad found that I could take the connection off the back of socket in the living room. Result. So for a bit of a cheat, cat5 cabeling was being used instead of phone wire. Well my borther had access to a drum of the stuff. So with 90 meters still left in the drum, why not. I only need 2 wires after all. And it appeard to work. That's now the maximum of 4 sockets in his home. There is no live line, but the BT diagnostics number worked. Dial 17070 from a BT phone and get the automated robot woman and some diagnostic tools, just in case your curious.

So with that out of the way, and genrally spurred on by the sucess of the phone line, I spent even more time going up & down from the loft pulling wires through. I'll wire them in to the sockets once all the decorating has been done.

So that was my Sunday. Improvised acupuncture, plumbing, DIY & wiring.

All good fun Smiley
