Then again Brahms, pretty much everyone who has an Xbox 360 has had it die on them, so consoles aren't that much better off. To early for me to pass judgement on Macs but my personal experience with my mums Macbook is that it's more unstable and tantrum prone than any of my Windows PC's.

All technology sucks, but it's either put up with it or go down the pub and suffer through a normal social life.

Its the laptop failing and then this happening within the same week thats pissed me off more then the fact that either of them broke tbh. Was stupid of me to do a clean Windows install without a second internet source I guess...

And yeah, I'd rather put up with this then have to talk to people face to face too. Smelly breath is smelly .

Well, yeah, but when a console or a mac breaks you just chuck it/send it back for repairs, though you could say the same about any laptop I supppose. No user servicable parts means you can't fix it, sure, but it also means you don't have to give a shit about fixing it.

It's not the fail rate that I'm bothered about (though things that didn't fail would be nice..) it's that when your home built gaming rig fails, you've no one to go crying to. Unless you want the local IT Baboon to charge you £80 to format it for you...

At least if your xbox fails you can still watch TV.. though TV is pretty bad so.. I don't know. maybe lying face down on the floor is the only really suitably leisure activity.

I'd rather let a stranger play with my nutsack then with the insides of my PC tbh, especially if I'm going to be paying them for the privilege.

I think (THINK) the problem is that my BIOS was remembering the settings for my old CPU, so I went into the BIOS and restored optimized defaults but I'm pretty sure the RAM speeds or frequencys or something changed too which caused the BSoD, which caused the Windows corruption. Of course, this is only speculation so I'm resetting the CMOS/BIOS and going to start again from the ground up. Again.

On the plus side, I did spend a lot of time reading the new John Irving book last night whilst Windows was running its stupid memtest things and telling me that even though the hard drive was found, I couldn't install onto it.

edit - Although some light reading suggests that BlOps could've caused the BSoD; fuck knows what corrupted the windows install though...

Never had that sort of problem, and my Sega Megadrive is still 100% working

Not given it a lot to do lately though..

PS3 on the other hand.. wont play non blu-ray discs =/ (which is a send it to sony for a £120 repair job.. fuck that)

I had the same thing, didn't work for fucking ages, then one day I realised it'd lost connection to our wireless. Once it was reconnected, it downloaded a firmware update and was fine.

Going to Wigan again tomorrow for a work thing, will be leaving at 5.15 am and won't be back till 6-7ish .
