Charity shops, hospices  and dumpster diving. One of Mrs Hzza's friends furnished a whole house like that and it doesn't look as bad as you'd imagine. The only thing I'd mention though is if you're going to be taking stuff out of skips in peoples drive-ways make sure to ask first. Oh, and don't get a matress this way, buy one new because 2nd hand matress' are whack.

I bought my big desk from staples - it seems a pretty reasonable price to me - think it was about £100 for a large oak effect desk.

Ikea is pretty good for beds - I picked up a double bed frame for £70 and a mattress for about £80-100 from there when I was at Uni

theres often plenty of students getting rid of furniture in student areas, or check out freecycle. You have to give something away first but then you can go and pick up other peoples stuff for free.

I spotted some matey's fence on fire driving home from work, so phoned the firedudes. On reflection it wasn't very big, but could have spread; lots of tree's, wooden fence, about 30 meters away from someones house. Did I do the right thing?

Well it's been a fun packed week. Nope, can't say that and keep a straight face. Ok, let's try again. Ermm... Picked up a second hand Wii guitar for "Guitar Hero" from Gamestation for a £5. Enjoyed some very nice home baked bread (waist line not doing so well). Had geek envy, as a friend of mine rang me to tell me he now has a Galaxy SII. And now I've got the weekend off. Time for some domestic chores. Some wood hunting. And a trip into town to find a jeweler that can repair a ring with disproportionate sentimental value.

In other news. There has been no junk mail through the door in over a week now! The only bit of indirect mail was from the council for the electoral registrar. Most awesome

See if there's a British Heart Foundation furniture store anywhere near you, we got a really nice desk from there when we moved into our flat.

Get a cheap and not very good desk for now Zarf. One of those "workstation" style ones. I found one on the street and though it wobbles horribly with a 24 inch monitor and speakers on it, it hasn't collapsed as yet.

Just back from holiday, had a nice break and some great fun at the seaside with the family.

One of the highlights: My family meeting up with Hex, Papa and their kids for a day out.  Awesome

One of the lowlights: My two year old son sh*tting himself in public (twice). Nice.

Today I did my good deed.

Went into town. A simple plan of find a jeweler to repair my ring, and pick up some new work shirts. Pulled up into the car park. Locked up and then I heard that distinctive sound. TAP-POP-SHATTER! And then a car alarm going off. The levels in the car park are off set from each other by half a floor. So I could see a man lent in the passenger side window, with a woman stood a little away. I was expecting her to start chastising the man for breaking the window. But with out a word they both walked away. This is getting suspicious. So I go and follow them. A look over at the car confirms what I heard. Glass litters the floor. At this moment one of the car park attendants is coming up the other ramp. I point at the stair well. He goes after them. I cross to the railing getting my phone out of my pocket as I go. There less than 10 feet away in the man and the woman. If my phone had been a little quicker I'd have had a photo of their faces. Instead, 7 seconds later a photo of their backs.

I rang it through to the police there and then. The car park attendant giving chase. Gave as much detail as I could. Considering how bad humans are at accurate recall, the sooner it's done the better. With that done & dusted I went shopping.

On the way back to the car I stuck my head in at the car park office. I'm nosy after all. I was told that there were a couple of specials up near the car, and that i should go and see if they wanted the photo. So I went and said hello. A couple of very nice ladies. They told me that an officer had been trying to contact me, and that I should go to the station and see them right away. No worries. So dropped the shopping off in the car and went to the police station. Literally down the road a couple of hundred meters. Introduced myself to the desk officer, who then showed me to an absolutely stunning WPC. Oh I am now more than happy to help the police with their inquiries. Especially when they are that gorgeous. Tried my best not to stare.

So gave a statement. Also got to meet the people who's car had been broken in to. So brought things nicely full circle. The fun part was getting the photo off the phone. A USB cable of the correct format was located in the station, but my phone didn't want to share. So uploaded the photo to Google and borrowed the beautiful WPC's PC to log on to my account and retrieve the photo. The cold panic that hit when the dark paranoid thought entered my head of "What else have I uploaded?". Thankfully all I heard was a giggle. So she saw the hats then. This is typical of my life

So there you have it. Went into town. Witnessed a crime. Helped the police with the power of Google. Met an incredible WPC. Nice men in the car park let me park for free.

All I hope is that the asshole gets caught and that justice is served.

new intel i7 980 Hexacore, 12 GB DDR3 and a GTX580.. it's a beast
