All in all, work was ok. The first job became second, as no part was ordered. So second became first. Shame I had to drive past the site, to go to the parts locker, to get the bits. But that logistics for you. Third job was a swine. Hay ho.

But all this doesn't detract from the smug feeling of a guilty pleasure I get form the thought of minor devilment Smiley

You know all those leaflets that come through the door? All those take-away menus? The never ending tide of charity collection bags? And mail addressed "To the home owner"?

I've found a relatively inexpensive use for them. Anything addressed "to the home owner" is easy. Cross through the address. Write "Not known at this address" and stick it back in the post Cheesy

As for the rest? Well, you will require some cheap envelopes, a pen and possibly an internet. Item by item, fill out the address for each offending piece of crap on to the envelope. Pop the offending item inside. Seal it up, and here's the crucial part. Don't put a stamp on it. Then simply put it in the post. Very soon you should get a nice warm feeling inside as a result of the knowledge that a postman (or woman) will have delivered a card to the publisher of what ever piece of useless tat that came through your letter box, informing them that they have a letter waiting for them that has been posted with "insufficient" postage. There are good odds that curiosity will get the better of them, and they will have to pay for the postage and a handling fee to get their mail. Imagine their confusion as to what could be waiting for them? Envisage the mix of emotions when they discover they have paid over the odds just to get their crap back. And here's the nice thing. If they don't go and get it, the Post Office will hold on to it for them. So eventually they will miss a delivery at home or elsewhere. But the post office will be more than happy to bundle your unpaid mail in with the bargain as well when they come to collect.

It's childish and petty. But deeply satisfying Cheesy

Why not try it for yourself?

Better still, why not try it for yourself, but get friends and family to join in with the fun as well.

Thanks dude Cheesy

Well, there has got to be balance in the universe. So the fact that I have tainted all your souls wasn't going to go unpunished. So yesterday I was so ill, I didn't even turn on the computer. A restless nights sleep. Then at 6:30am that sharp & wet sensation stabbing away at your guts. Even through a mind that is still asleep, you instinctively know you have mere seconds. Thankfully I remembered the importance of using doors and didn't try and make a bee line for the bog through the wall. A close call! After about half an hour I figured that there was nothing left inside. The worse was over, or so I thought. So I jumped in the shower and started to feel a bit better. But this was the calm before the storm. Getting dressed I made a critical mistake. I bent over. This put pressure on my stomach, and moments later I was bent over the sink with last nights meal passing before my eyes. Strangely enough I found myself pondering the benefits of a small bathroom, in that I would be possible to sit on the bog sideways and face the sink at the same time.

So a day off sick for me. Couldn't get comfy on the sofa, eventually went back to bed. A stomach so tetchy that I couldn't even bare water. And every so often my guts would continue to terrorize me. It was about 6:00pm when I finally risked something to eat & drink. Two slices of toast, and a as a treat, a mug of tea with real sugar.

The thing I couldn't understand was why my spine ached. I hate being ill Sad

Thankfully today I feel better. Still got a headache, but that is more than likely dehydration. And thankfully I don't feel so achy. So fingers crossed what ever it was that my digestive system didn't like is long gone. Time to go back to work.

Thanks me dears Smiley Feeling allot better. I think it was the processed chicken. So I have learnt something important. Even though it's within it's use by date, and it's being stored at a cool temperature in an air tight box. If it's sweating, don't eat it. That be a bacteria colony I am told.

So back to work. YAY! I think I waved at the engineer from Bristol as he drove north to Gloucester to get the part for the job in Stroud. As I drove south to Weston-Super-mare to get the parts for the job in Bristol. No, we couldn't figure that one out. In exactly the same way that I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on with the cash draws in a certain budget super-market chain in Bristol. Five sodding hours and no step nearer to fixing the faults. Now I can appreciate the manager's concerns. He may be a little fraught. But if I'm working on a cash draw, then how the f*ck am I responsible for breaking a chip & pin pad two sodding tills away? So that set the tone for the next 4 and half hours. It was a real head scratcher. Cash draw won't open. Replace base plate. Fires ok. Take off empty cash box, fit floated up cash box. Sign on member of staff. Won't fire. Put empty cash box on. Won't fire. Get accused by manager of breaking new cash draw base plate. Spend hours swapping base plates, wires and adapters between tills. Find that kit that did work, no longer works. Stuff that didn't work will then work. But only once. Or will only work after a reboot. But won't do it a second time in a row. All the while the manager is being very encouraging. Because he's got such a busy site (take time to look around store to eventually spot a single customer) he will never be able to cope with only 2 out of 5 tills working. Oh boy! I'm so looking forward to going back to that site again!

Time for a couple of painkillers, another pint of squash, then bed.

Got my first speeding ticket of the year. Since I've got a company car, I received it at work. Always fun to see your colleagues find that very amusing.
 Cry

On my way home, got a message from my wife that she and the kids wanted french fries (what's wrong with cooking on a friday?). While waiting on the fries to be ready, I was wondering why every snack bar/frietkot (really love that word Naftman) are run by Chinese these days.

Got home and there it was ... a blue enveloppe ... YEAH!! TAX REFUND!!
 Grin

I'm ready to go help my dad pack for his holidays. He doesn't have enough space in his car, so I'm going to take some of his stuff and take it to his holiday location which is a2.5 hour drive. Since tomorrow it's the MotoGP in Assen, the drive home wil probably take 4+ hours, because the roads will be filled with bikes.

Bad day for me, pull the short straw and get given the task of counting every kitchen unit in the place as part of the weekly stock check, it's a big list and there is quite a bit of expensive stock on the list that has never existed in branch, I take advantage of no-one in the company being able to use SAP properly and make the stock check correct for probably the first time ever without fear of senior management asking awkward questions about why the stock is £100s down, it took 4 hours.  I come downstairs to find my counter PC which I had restarted in the morning had failed to restart and in fact was totally failing to load Windows.  A quick and frustrating call to IT proved fruitless, 3 hours later they rang back up and asked exactly the same questions (weird BIOS posts, totally fails to load windows.  I predict a broken hard drive or motherboard or both).  An engineer is coming on Monday to (fail to) fix it.

I'm then sent out on an urgent mission to the bank to get change and get some milk, take advantage of the rare trip out to fill up with petrol, manage to break my new car key in the lock, spent the next hour trying to get back in the car, in the end I ring work to pick me up.  I leave the car at Asda and call Mrs Bystander to bring the spare key out.  She is not amused, it's a 2 hour round trip on a Friday afternoon.  My 6 year old daughter who has her birthday party tomorrow manages to throw up all over the Picasso the bodyshop had valeted for us and we were trying to sell.

This evening and tomorrow we will be mostly preparing for the party (held at a local sports centre).

My son had an interesting evening at the Shell Grotto in Margate with the Beavers (pre Cubs boys club).  It's a very strange place http://www.shellgrotto.co.uk/ No one knows who built it or even when.

Are they giving you the option of a reeducation course? few hours of boredom and a bit extra money but worth it to keep points off your license (and insurance).
My mum took that option and then they had some delays in scheduling the course which created a backlog so they just let her off.

I'm over in France (Brittany) atm, nice weather and scenery. Had the Steak Tartare (raw hamburger with a raw egg on top) yesterday though and am feeling pretty crooked today.

I'm still feeling yucky! How bloody long does it take for toxins to leave the body? Bloody things. Come in uninvited. Messing around with my digestive system and center of balance. Grrrr!

Nice pharmacist lady game me some tablets to help with the nausea, work very well in fact. Just the splitting headache to get rid of.

Also Akira was on the SyFy channel. Not seen that film in years. An enjoyable trip down nostalgic memory lane Smiley
