Yeah, you have to know what you're doing, cramming 200 users onto a crappy server is a recipe for disaster. You also need to have your storage back-end sorted out, preferably with plenty of RAM and SSD caching in the mix - trying to load a few hundred user profiles from mechanical drives when everyone tries to log on at the start of the work day or after lunch will slow everything to a crawl for tens of minutes.

You need to spec your hardware around providing reasonable service during the peaks, and accept that you won't be getting perfect efficiency of utilisation for most of the day.

I think they bought some space on a server farm, flicked a switch and went "TA-DA!!!!" which is why it now takes me up to 15 minutes to open Outlook in the morning I guess.

the council are being such shits, for starters i've only been in my flat for 2 and a half months and they've sent a court summons for not paying council tax, they've never been in such a rush before, they didn't send an initial bill, sent one reminder and made no mention they were already starting a summons. Also I know how long it takes them to process shit, they sent the reminder about a week and a half ago, no chance in hell they would have processed it by now even if i had immediately responded, and they keep spamming letters even if they've received your details up until the point they actually get it sorted through all their horrible systems. I dunno whether to complain to my local councillor I don't think they've done anything wrong but they are certainly being impatient pricks with poor communication this year. I am exempt from paying to boot.

Strwth! I'm so frazzeled. It's the long part of the rota and there are still two days to do before a day off.

It's a terible thing to be so shattered that even in your dreams, your dreaming that you sleeping. I don't know if I'm properly awake yet. A small blessing is that there is currently no work alocated for me. So this gives me a great chance to drink much tea

A weird sight yesterday. The dashborad claimes that it's 6c outside. So I was a little supprised when I saw a nearly spherical man standing at the bus stop wearing a light jacket and shorts. Just struck me as a little strange as everyone else I had seen had been wearing huge jackets and jumpers. i tend to associate shorts with summer time, or at least a beach. Or i suppose they could be at an indoor swimming pool.

I think I had better get another mug of tea. The keyboard is begining to look like quite an inviting pillow.

Had my first shift at Wagamamas today :3
Was ok, a lot quieter than my trial shift which was nice. A lot of the time was spent doing the necessary paperwork, and reading the epic training book, but basically it's 3 weeks of training, in which time I'll pretty much be trained in all the various roles for the front of house team. I also have to do 1 full shift in the kitchen as a chef
Annoyingly for the 1st 2 weeks I don't get a share of the tips, but kinda makes sense I guess, just annoying cos I desperately need money, and for the first 2 weeks I'll just be earning minimum wage. But hey, c'est la vie. Just so happy to have a reliable source of income now, cant wait to have money....then watch it disappear on bills, rent and other various debts.

BAH! Oh wells. Plus the people there are really nice which is a bonus. Got invited out for drinks for someones bday tonight already. Kinda wanna go, but a)I is poor b) they're going clubbing (I hate clubbing).

Perhaps I'll get into all that shizz after I start getting some money :3

It sucks you don't get tips for 3 weeks, working with nice people is a bonus as it makes a shit job good and a good job great.  Unfortunately the opposite also applies.

I seem to be working with a decent lot and really helpful to a noob, sold my first kitchen yesterday, still not 100% sure how.  The manager is panicking a bit this month as last week we had only hit 60% of our target sales for the month (which is how our bonus is calculated), last month they smashed the target (and took home £600+ bonus each) so this month's is artificially high.  I am starting to get the job but developing a massive hatred of the ancient DOS based computer system that was last updated in 1994.

I had a fucking wierd ass dream last night where Cheez and Mama were working in some cake shop with Mr T as their boss. Mr T was really nice and gave me free cakes. Then I woke up and now I want a cake .

I've survived the 10 days in a row with work. And due to holiday, that is the last time I will ever work a 12 hour shift for the rest of this year

So a day off. YAY! Got a little bit of time to tinker and prat about befor headding off down to HeX & Fade's for a group hug and a catch up. Then back in time for Frag Fest. Then get the company car serviced on Saturday. Leaving me Sunday to have a good panic about "What the hell am I going to do about Christmans!" kind of thing.
