It's beyond a joke now, shortly after I renew my contract and upgrade my line, performance drops to 56K modem levels between 4PM and midnight. The line regrade hasn't even gone through yet (from fixed 2Mb to ADSL Max) so customer services have an excuse to use.

I'm really hoping it regrades soon and everything is magically better. From reading it looks as if my problems are far from unique. Sky are putting pressure on Easynet to close down UKOnline (my ISP) The Signup system has been down for a year and I suspect they have just cut back on capacity between BT and their networks in order to provide such a terribly contended experience that everyone leaves.

Becca got a computer today because of disabled students allowance. But we aren't allowed to even open the box until and engineer comes to install it later on. We tried cancelling the engineer but we're not allowed to install it ourselves. Waste of everyone's time and the governments money

You know what I LOOOOOOOOVE about Mondays? Coming back from my awesome set up at home with a nice mouse, decent mousemat, comfy chair, decent computer to my PoS shitty mouse that I have to use lefthanded or I get RSI, my uncomfortable ass chair which I can never get set up so it doesn't make my back spasm and my lame ass fucking work computer that takes 8 minutes to zip a 7k kb file and then another 3 minutes to attach it to an email (I timed both btw, 9.50am to 9.58am to zip, 10.00am to 10.03 to attach). I think the 1996 MB memory relates the year it was fucking made...

Talk to your boss. He'll bitch about an upgrade being to expensive,that's when you pull out your list of waiting times, multiplied witj your hourly rates, extrapolated to a month if needed. Giving you better tool to work with will seem like a bargain.

I've been up all morning, currently re-arranging my sleeping patterns around my broken internets.
Interestingly the guy I spoke to yesterday claimed that they were aware of the problem and were supposed to be hearing back about it today. I suspect he was just fobbing me off, but there's always hope. Should be getting a new router (Cisco 1701) through the post to play with too, I will become incandescent with rage if UPS fail to deliver it (or phone me) again.

Should also be getting some RAM back from corsair, one of the DDR2 sticks in my HTPC died and the 2GB kit is out of production, so they're sending me one of their best 4GB kits instead - score! I was pretty depressed when I found the archived invoice email and realised I'd paid £130 for it when new back in 2006.

I work for a massive company, they've only just (well, 2 years ago which is practically yesterday from this companies pov) upgraded every computer in the office (250+ boxes) to E8400's and "more RAM". Just because I start moaning, they ain't going to do shit unfortunatly. After a couple of hours you get used to it tbh, it also allows me to check the forums every 5 seconds whilst I wait for something to load!

@Zarf, if you can, jump over to Sky. You can get packages that from £20/month get you the basic Sky+ package, unlimited 20mbs broadband and some landline thing. Never had to deal with customer service as its only ever gone down once, for 3 days in the last 18 odd months.

Hz - The exchange at my parents house (and mine too until I get a job and money) is in the middle of nowhere, Nobody has unbundled it so all you can get is BT wholesale. There's only 600 houses on the exchange, so BT have written us off,  There's no date listed for the 21CN upgrade to ADSL2+ (which would bring lower prices if not higher speeds for me) and we can't even partake in the Race to Infinity . Such is the price for having the audacity to live a 10 minute drive out of town. My local town is actually getting real FTTP next year as well, just to rub it in.
 
My ISP, UKOnline, actually uses the same network as Sky. If I was with them on their non-LLU Sky Connect package I'd have exactly the same issue. The only way to guarantee good service is to go with a business grade service at close to £40 a month, even with daytime usage caps.

All that to connect at around 3.5Mb (I can sync at almost 4.5, but due to the intricacies of BT's bloody IP line profiles they artificially limit the connection to 3.5 further up their network.

Paul and I had an awesome weekend: We have been to Hamburg, France, USA, Scandinavia, Austria, Switzerland on one weekend!

We have been to Hamburg to celebrate that we are a couple for 10 years now. Paul bought tickets for the musical "The Lion King" ( I looove musicals) and he booked a hotel room for the night.
So we drove there Saturday and visited the "Miniatur Wunderland". There they built parts of Hamburg, France, USA, Scandinavia, Austria and Switzerland with leeeettle people, cars, trains... They even had day and night and fire and stuff.. It took us 4 hours to see everything.

After that we went to the hotel and enjoyed the hotelroom and room service (Mhmmm buffalo mozzarella!). Then we dressed up and went to the theater.

I saw 9 different musicals until now and have to say that "The Lion King" is the most awesome, beutiful, enjoying musical of all times.The costumes, the songs, the music.. just awesome! The funny thing is that we met an old colleague of mine. He lives nearby flensburg. So how likely is it to meet someone in that big theater that "far" away from your hometown?

After that we went back to the hotel. Unfortunately it was late already so we couldn't enjoy the wellnes area (saune and stuff) and couldn't get any food so we just ate something from the mini bar

The next morning we enjoyed the big and generous breakfast buffet, god it was so good I ate so much I thought everything will come out again. (It didn't, yay).
After we checked out of the hotel we made a boat trip through the canals of the Alster. It was very nice as it is another view on hamburg. Some really nice and expensive mansions and 200m further people living under the bridge in a tent...

And then it only took us 1 hour to get to the zoo (usually it would be like.. 15 minutes?) where we had 2 hours left to see everything and eat something.
But it was worth it, "Hagenbeck's Tierpark" is just the best zoo I've ever seen.

I took a lot of pictures and if anyone is interested I could post some here or in another thread...

So honey, you probably won't read this before friday, but thanks again for this perfect weekend, I love you
