You may of gathered that the company I work for is in trouble. It now looks like, unless we get around £50k in the next week or so (not impossible, we are owed way more than that) it looks the company will go into recievership. Yesterday the factory shut down beacuse we had run out of stuff to make windows with. The baliffs were in last week because we hadn't paid our rent.
Apparently if I stay to the bitter end I'll get some sort of redundancy payment. Anyone know anything about this?

I think when I was made redundant they made us sign a contract that basically said if we stayed until the office was closed then we'd get our full payout or something. I can't really remember tbh, and I wouldn't want to give out advice as its a pretty sketchy area. I'd go to citizens advice or something and see waht they have to say  . edit - Also, being able to track stuff you've bought online in realtime is a surefire way of building up insane ammounts of false hope and wearing out the F5 button on your keyboard  . |

Yes Yes 1000 times Yes! I hate and love it at the same time. Unless of course you're at home, F5ing and then it says it's been delivered to your neighbour even though you were in all the time. Or it turns around and says you weren't in - and you were. And you find out like 2/3 minutes after they turned up. *rage* |

I checked it yesterday and it said it was on the truck for delivery at 8.45am. I got proper excited thinking "YEAH ITS GOING TO BE HERE TODAY" only for it not to turn up and be signed BACK into the depo at 7.30pm that evening! So they took my mousemat out of the depo, off for a drive, didn't attempt to deliver it (as we have some guys that are ALWAYS in the post room at work and there wasn't a delivery failure notice on the tracker) and then took it back . It's already been signed out for delivery this morning so hopefully they won't just take it out for a spin again and I'll actually get the fucker! |

I'm in the exact same situtation at the moment, and the delivery man NEVER even tries to ring, so I keep on refreshing online tracking so I know when to walk to the freaking post office >.< Also, obligatory xkcd   |

Worse though - is when you order something and choose to have it delivered via a tracked service (e.g. Royal Mail SD) and THEY DONT GIVE YOU THE TRACKING NUMBER. Which is the situation I have currently found myself in!

its a tricky one mate.
You wont get redundancy if you resign. if the company is insolvent then you too will join the list of creditors (ie, you are owed basic pay and any other entitlement under your contract).
If you work on, you may get pay and/or redundancy. It may be statutory redundancy payment which is capped at around 100 per year of employment.
Seek advice quickly to ensure you get what you are owed.
