Today's my well-deserved day-off (but I'll have of course to work tomorrow).

So many things I should be doing today - laundry, shopping, a bit of house-cleaning - but I can't muster the energy.
So I will spend the day doing as little as possible (which means I will watch movies/TV episodes, perhaps toying with my db's and continue to scan some old magazines so I can discard them).

Will probably still manage to be late for FF. I might even decide to switch on my micro for a change, if only to curse on the snipers headshotting me behind my wrangler-shield.

Unless I get one of my mood-swings and decide to perform a preemptive ragequit™.

Yeah, welcome to BT's customer service. They didn't show up when I was having a new socket fitted and then charged me £120 for it saying that I wasn't in...

took ages for mine to arrive but he was decent when he did. Whats awesome is i never did manage to get broadband at that flat, so I wasted £120 and line rental for very little usage.

So far today has gone as expected.
Collect part from Bristol.
Drive to Leominster.
Discover no fault with kit.

I've got two more jobs. One in Gloucester, the other in Cheltenham. Hopefully they will both be straight forward enough.

Just called BT,

Suprise suprise, they claimed he did come and I wasnt in so they would need to reschedule, conversation went as follows:

"the engineer notes says he arrived at 12:10pm and there was noone in the property so we shall reshedul-"

"I'm gonna stop you right there, cos there is no way that happened, I've been sat by the door since 7:30am and havent moved up untill now, no one has turned up and knocked what so-ever, he never came, that's a flat out lie"

"Oh....well I'll ring openreach now and I'll ring you back"
"Alrighty *hang up*...she's not gonna call me back is she?"

In the meantime I took the broken socket off the wall and semi sorted it myself, can plug the phone in now at least (whereas before it just the plug just disappeared into the wall), so if by some miracle they do activate the line today, perhaps all shall not be lost

Also, expect to be charged twice when they do invoice you. If its anything like what happened to me, they'll give you your money back pretty quick, but even if you call them before and tell them not to take it, they will.

edit - Also, hungry, didn't eat in an attempt to not have disgusting teeth when I visit the dentist @4. Scared. Partly because I don't like dentists, mostly because I think it'll be expensive.

I forget, do you have to pay the ridiculous installation fee (currently at £128) only if an engineer has to come? or even if it's just for them to flick a switch?

I think its just installation but it wouldn't suprise me if they billed you for flicking a switch too.

no activation is free, but you should have a dial tone if that what you are getting. If the property has been without a phone for long enough bt come and rip it out of the local switch box so they can charge the next unlucky sod to move in an engineers fee.

At my place the construction was shitty so he did have to do some internal wiring but most of the work consists of going to the swtichbox and plugging you back in there.
