Do people think this will be a temporary engie numbers buff, or will we see 2 engies on all teams from now on? Sounds like with the new stuff it's become a more fun class to play. Would like to know what the career engies make of things - will it still be your main once things have settled down?

Probably did more damage last night as heavy than I ever did as engie though.
Edit: I not noticed the new shotgun being used, I have however noticed the Wrangler which seems to be a great replacement for the pistol and opens a whole new book on sentry gun placement. I doubt anyone will equip the pistol now. I predict a range nerf. The new instabuild sentry seems to be pretty crap and easy to destroy (as a heavy anyway).
Oh and on Thunder Mountain look at the back of the Blue spawn on level 1. LOL!

We even had an overabundance of engies weeks or months before the engy update, so while it will slow down again in general I think we will (continue to) see 2 engies almost constantly.
As for my opinion (if I was even meant
), I can't give you some. Have only the Wrangler so far and FragFest + tons of new maps was clearly a bad moment to start exploring.

They more than compensate that by their cheapness and buildtime. I've sometimes built two during single firefight.
I think I'll play engi more now, the new tools make him way more fun and offensive engi way more easy.

I've got all the upgrades now, Thanks to my SSD's I always get in server first so i've had plenty of opportunity to test them too
. I don't think anything will be nerfed, none of it seems gamebreaking (i'd actually lean towards a slight mini-sentry buff, they are pretty ineffective as it stands)
Wrangler is fun, but it's still not especially easy to get kills outside a normal sentry range. Very vulnerable to snipers/spys whilst using it though.
Best part of the upgrade has been being able to move your stuff, It makes a massive difference.

I would've thought the engi would be able to put down 2 mini sentries tbh. The fact they cant be repaired and already have a low HP kinda over shadows that they go up really quickly. Just a thought

I think the idea is to be up with the attack, using the wrangler with mini sentries to give them better damage and survivability, switching to FJ for crits when the sentry dies.

Wrangler has completely changed the dynamics of every map with regards to sentries. Every corner now has to be checked for sg placement before running out.
Also I agree there will be more engis playing, which with class limits at the moment is frustrating as we have to play other classes. I played spy and heavy mainly last night lmao

completel;y agree zarf. attacking engi should be using the mini-sg. Which also answers millis downer on moving sgs. Which btw can be hit to be deployed quicker and repaired at the same time
example move your lvl 3 dispenser to somewhere just round a corner from where you want sg, then deploy lvl 3 sg and hit it to build quick and repair. You can actually take out level 3 sgs doing this (if no engi is repairing the other one)

Probs won't be as easy on the WDG server, but makes me more likely to play engi, even after the update madness dies down

I'm not sure that it's too powerful, more just that the added power of the engie makes games more likely to end in stalemate.
I was hoping they'd boost the flexibility of the engie, not make him stronger. Stronger engies lead to being stuck in one place, being stuck in one place leads to spam, spam leads to randomness and a lack of progression.
