well that was fairly simples I picked it up from just glancing down the list. The mode time difference between golden wrenches is 45 minutes. So you can increase your chances by crafting 45 mins after the last drop, doing it at the lull in steam users, shown on store page , and then getting lucky.

Theres also a painfully obvious pause when valve shut down the drops while they got their shit together for the blog post, 5 hour gap . So I would recommend avoiding crafting uggh sometime before blog time, tf2stats is absurd enough not to list timezone, america has 4 so thats no excuse. http://www.tf2items.com/lists/golden_wrenches/ is better for that. There have been no drops since 7am this morning so we are currently in the valve get their blog post together lull. Which sucks I crafted a few things earlier. Gits.

For once I'm going to disagree with Junta. The engie definitely needed a big buff (sg's are mostly a joke right now). My concern so far is if three engies can totally turtle the place to death, but perhaps the spy vulnerabilities fix that. Also, why /wouldn't/ you use the wrangler...

There is a lot going on so simply.

Golden wrenches are the result of crafting, most crafts will result in the usual however occasionally the result will be a golden wrench.
Drop rates have been increased for this week so its back to grinding folks (yippeee )
New map announced today
Two unlocks announced the rifle and a remote to aim your sentry
Hidden update is a guitar my guess is this is a mini crit buff
Achievement titles announced today but no details

A tf2 update went in this morning saying mac update but it contained the guitar.

LOTS of rage about the golden wrench and undoubtedly when people craft there unlocks rage on that as well
The first person to get a wrench is VAC banned as he hacked it (probably by sending fake crafting messages to valve) rumour has it that some servers have been set up to send the item crafted server convar to valve.
When a wrench is found it is announced to all the servers running in the world.
The blog is updated after every 25 wrenches found.

two directional sentries in the intel room of two fort constantly firing down the corridors, in fact any sentry aimed at a choke point, does the self aim last forever ? can another engy repair / refil your sentry while you fire ? lots of questions to be answered / patched out after release lol

Lets see how the unlocks will work ingame.
As long as we have a limit of 2 engies per team on the server I think we will still have good games.

I can now honestly say, I don't care if I get a golden wrench. I think over the years Valve has trained me that way - with each limited unlock they release I care less if I get it.

Maybe because I'm one of the few who got hats for every class except 3.

And tbh. I think f00l probably deserved it more than any of the other guys, he created some great stuff for the community.


Yes, the remote control sounds imba, especially considering it replaces the useless pistol, but heck, it'll make spies more important and therfor more popular
I just hope the turn-speed is limited so people can't spycheck with a freaking sentry.


Oh and the new map looks like it'll make airblasting very, very fun.

gah i am graphing fail i will return with a probability plot later once i remember how they work. Average is 55 mins though, that modal value i gave should be ignored for now especially if its a normal distribution but i expect the optimum crafting time to be somewhere between 45 mins and an hour after last wrench and sadly it appears the low point of community activity is when valve switch off the drops, though fool may have found the optimum point at around 7am. So my preliminary recommendation is do some crafting before work tommorow approx 1 hour after the last wrench but don't leave it late enough the drops switch off like i did
