What, you just read about it and not last night at 2 past midnight? Haha, you must have a life, you anti-geek!!!
Anyway, all really exciting and typical valve material. This can only mean Portal 2 or similar malarkies! Also let's not forget that Portal and Half-life are actually in the same game universe and the ship in the arctic, which is one of the locations in HL2:Ep3 belongs to apperture science. So this might also be a tie in with Ep3 or whatever. I am totally excited I wrote this all without breathing in, now I'm dizzy!

WHY TELL ME ABOUT THIS NOW?! IN FUTURE ALL PORTAL UPDATES MUST BE TRANSMITED TELEPATHICALLY TO ME AT ANY HOUR OF THE DAY AT ANY COST!
/ragecaps.
Seriously though, if this isn't a Prelude (punpunpun) to either Portal 2 or Ep3 Ima gonna eat until I can challenge Gabe to a sumo wrestling contest over the ownership of Valve.
You heard it here first.
Also, worth pointing out I can't actually get to that link (or the Steam forums) to find out what the deal is other then some kind of morse code being added to the radios, anyone got any more info for poor work-internet restricted Hzza?

From what I understand, Hzz. They added morse code to the radios, and managed to transmit some images through the code. I don't know anything else. Oh and the radios make a WICKED SCARY NOISE when they get disintegrated.

Wasn't there something a while back where Gabe said that he would decide if he made CS2 or Portal 2 based on the ammount of emails he recieved? CS2, Portal 2 & EP3? Sounds sexy. Also, cheers for the info B.

There's also a bunch of really distorted audio that people are trying to clean up.

This is apparently what's on the end of it all: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/6278/portalascii.pngFollowing steps were made to get there: See update -> Discover achievement -> figure out how to get it -> examine sound files -> find pictures encoded in the sound files via SSTV (and some morse code) -> get md5 checksum on the pictures -> discover it translates to a phone number -> realize it's actually a data line hosting a BBS in Seattle area -> dial in -> use the login from Portal -> get the ASCII pictures above. To be continued?

I too wish I had an enhancement program that can bitmap, then this problem would've been long solved!

This SSTV seems to be a code that is used in CB radios to transmit images over sound, never heard of this before, but it's cool.
