Quite the kind of ugliness time can only improve upon ...

Congratz ... and a "gg" on Ms Bystander ... a job well done
Bad Teatime!, if you want to get on in life never call someone's baby ugly.  She was only 5 mins old at the time too.  She is now much cuter and no longer purple.
Congratulations and well done Mr and Mrs Milli!

Hope your little girl looks after her mum and dad with easy feeding and lots of nightime sleeping..... *fingers crossed anyway*

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
Not last night she didn't Sad  We are both trying to remember what to do with a baby at the moment.  Not that there are many options at the moment.
If asleep - leave
If crying - feed
If crying after feed - burp
If crying and smelly - change
If still crying - hold until quiet or try to ignore.
Congratulations mate!

Now, about her toys...
WTF!?.... oh Want!

Tip for the day, stay at your wife's head end during labour, you really want to leave the other end for the professionals.  Even the easiest labour is a very bloody and messy affair.  However bad it is at the head end it's worse the other end.  Maree is very funny on gas and air between contractions.  I didn't get any death threats, just threats of emasculation, startling revelations about our private life and crushed hands.

Thanks for all your well wishes.  Maree is well, if exhausted and achey and she has babies relatively easily.  Lucy is sleeping ..... like a baby after being up all night.

The labour ward was being refurbished and was a mess, the day staff were brilliant, the night staff were stroppy cows who disappeared.  The ward had no lightbulbs in the bedside lights, no headphones on the TVs and the emergency cords didn't work.

There was also the standard NHS"wait 10 times longer than necessary" for everything.  I don't think it helped Maree getting discharged when she was swigging from a bottle of wine (first drink in 9 months) when the Registrar turned up to do the final checks on the baby.

Edit: Maree's family have been brilliant, they have bought us a ton of baby essentials including a very posh Silver Cross buggy, a car seat and a cot.

Yeah... I remember those moments mate. You get the first child sorted then you go backwards with number 2.. then you get that one sorted and you get another baby. This is called torture in some countries Wink

I was at the "business end" (not recommended as Milli says) - but then again both kids ended up caesarian section delivery.. which is something altogether different to witness (yep, I watched and no I didn't faint). Totally weird to see!

Glad you have your family home now mate... you'll soon have a routine back and at least your other kids are older and may feel like helping out Smiley

Its not that bad Power. You just need to prepare mate. If you're planning on "mini power" coming at some point then the best advice I can give is to get involved in helping with a baby nephew / niece / cousin or something. Its good preparation and will take the shock away when mini power finally gets planned, manufactured and delivered Wink

IMHO the labour is never nice to see - but just remember that its all soon forgotten.  Please *don't* go to the business end during labour. You *will* think "oh dear god. I'm not going back THERE again" Cheesy

The first baby is very scary, purely because you don't know what to expect.  Don't worry it's not that bad.  You Will Cope.

Parenthood is a skill set that scares me to the bone. I don't know how people do it. If it's not the scary of "it's a baby - protect at all costs", then it's the cold in the centre of your being at the daunghting unstopability of the future. How the hell do you prepair them for that? The observations from my own life idicate strongly that there will be reflections of yourself and your partner in your offspring. A chance and a hope that they will go on to to achieve great things. A set of thoughts that comes to dawn on me as I get ever older. The future is a big place. Anything is possable. I'm not sure where I'm going with this. But that is normal for my mind. I supose the happy thought is that there is no woman crazy enough to partner up with me. So the world is safe for now.
