Nice try, but cats are proven to be inefficient when voting. They just don't realize the concept of a mouse as anything but a feeding source.

Not true, mice to cats are food, play-things, presents AND when left at the top of the stairs, a very effective/revolting booby trap.

I shall not lower myself to try and derail this thread.
In fact how can you 'lower' yourself? I know you could use a pully arrangement and a rope but that would also present potentially unrealistic logistical requirements. Plus, where do you fix the pulley to? I guess the location of the fixing point would depend on the length of the rope available. Also, given that the rope is long enough to allow you to use your chosen fixing location, you would be restricted by factors such as the height of the ceiling etc. Additionally you need to consider the health & safety aspects if a ladder is required. Do you possess a certificate for safe working at heights?

Also, is the structure you are securing the pully mounts into strong enough? What are the tensile and sheer forces involved?

I suppose it's called a lift in the UK because "drop" wouldn't be good for PR.

The company I used to work for had a contract with them, aparently our sales team had a day when whoever got the most stupid company name to sign up won a prize. Can't remember any of the others but there were some absolute classics in there!
