I've heard that they wouldn't do that Cruel, as it would allow someone to use hacks themselves, then claim their account was hacked to get unbanned. I think I read an article about the VAC system and it said they've only ever unbanned people that were using some HLDM mod/pluggin that registered a false positive. It's a brutal system, but then I suppose it has to be.

Okay, my account was also highjacked for about 12 hours once and having some contacts to Valve at that time I had a long conversation with BurtonJ. You will not get unbanned. The only cases of reversed bans were false positives, like with that one winamp control plugin - but those affect huge amounts of people and are obvious.

Regardless of when this happened the ban will not be reversed. Most likely your account has been flagged when it was highjacked, since the ban doesn't occur for at least a MONTH after flagging it as a cheating account. It has nothing to do with your game yesterday.

The only option would be to rebuy the VAC secured multiplayer stuff on a clean account and keep the old account for singleplayer, as some people said already. Have no idea what this means for the leagues and stuff, blocked accounts is one thing, but cheating violation is probably a bigger concern for them, I'd guess.

Thing sucks, of course - can we have a small donation going to at least rebuy TF2?

I was going to suggest something similar, I'm sure if we all chip in a couple of quid we could get the Orange Box or something; it's only about a tenner these days isn't it?

£16.99 for the orange box. Additional £16.99 for the CS pack: Includes: Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Deathmatch Classic, Ricochet, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source. Easy peasy if everyone chips in..

Knew I remembered reading somewhere on etf2l on there policy on VAC banned accounts. Had a look through the archives:

VAC bans

Because we cannot prove that someone has cheated in TF2, there will be no player suspensions for VAC banned accounts. However, if your account is VAC banned and you wish to participate in our competitions, you will be subject to the following obligations:

    * You must notify an admin about your new account
    * Your player profile will be tagged with a VAC ban status flag
    * You will be suspended from ETF2L if you fail to provide a POV demo on request

I have enough for TF2 left over from some eBay stuff I sold a while back.. But anything you can donate towards getting me the valve MP stuff I lost would be great! The complete pack is £52.99 or something like that.. works out pretty cheap.. I'd have to buy L4D and L4D 2 again also!

I know that's a lot to ask and I dont expect anything really.. your current Idea is more than generous in its own right! but anything you give I will repay as soon as I can!
