Christ, £50 for an alarm clock?! When I worked shifts I had a couple of "herbal ciggies" to knock me out and get me to sleep and then a couple of esspressos in the morning to wake me up. Probably more expensive/damaging in the long run thinking about it...

Why not put a bedside lamp on one of those plug timers? You can pick them up for under a fiver.

The difference is the Lumie gradually get brighter over a period of time simulating sunrise. The also have a special bulb which throws off the same spectrum as sunlight.

The missus has one and they are very good. Only two problems:

1) The analogue one is a bit hit and miss as far as when it will go off. For example if you set it to 7:30 it could go off anywhere between 7:20 and 7:40. So if you are going to get one get the digital one.

2) It wakes me up too. Sad
