oh wait, I found the reply, and I got the date wrong...it's worse: Hi Alastair, I've had a look into the ticket for you and I can confirm that you are affected by the fault under investigation on reference F001147118. The current estimated fix time for this issue is mid-April to May. It is possible that this date may move forward as utilisation issues are prioritised and fixed as quickly as possible, however this is currently not the case. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this issue has caused you. If you would like to discuss terminating your services please contact the Customer Relations Team on freephone 151 from a Virgin Media Landline or on 0845 454 1111. -- Kind Regards Peter Rafe Virgin Media Technical Support http://status2.virginmedia.com/ Anyone know a decent ISP I can use for 6 months till I move out?

Meh, they were ok, but they generally only do 12 month contracts. Anyone know a company that just do it per month or a 6 month contract?

For an issue taking that long and affecting that many people, they should have informed their customers in the area as a courtesy. That's utter BS.

You are deffinatly eligable for compensation. That fix time is appauling. If it was for a couple of weeks then it would be a bit of an argument, but a couple of months. I'm pretty certain that's a contract breaker. Virgin will of cource try to pad things out and waste as much time in the hope that you think "Sod it!" and drop the attack. I suppose it depends on how much you want your money back. Anyhooo. I've had a quick search for you. There are some companies out there that will do 6 month contracts for ADSL. I'm not sure if this link will work, but give this a click... http://www.thinkbroadband.com/search/package/basic.htmlBut there is "NewNET" on a month by month service. http://www.newnet.co.uk/products/broadbandYou could try "idnet" http://www.idnet.net/solutions/home/broadband/homestarter.jspOr there is even "Nildram" on a 3 month minimum contract... http://broadband.nildram.net/products/lite/Good luck fella

Anyone know of any "ratings" website where you can read feedback for those smaller companies?

Be is looking tempting, however there's the annoying issue of setting up a BT line, since the virgin media package came with it's own phone line and line rental. Lame

Yup, I think BT's cheapest line rental package is about £11 so be sure to factor that in.
