Slight update with the court shenanigans,
The parents neglected to tell me there was a court hearing today for the first charge (Dangerous driving a couple days before he hit Matt). Apparently our barrister was an absolute beast and took the defense apart so he's been convicted Grin

From here, there's gonna be another hearing in September to see if we can use this conviction in Matt case, then Matt's case will be in November.

Don't you just love the lengthy process that is the British judicial system? ^_^

Update Time again:

So the case was due to go to trial in November, however the guy has now changed his plea to guilty for all charges, although he's pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Causing Death by Careless Driving, which our barrister accepted since she was concerned that we might not win if we pushed for the higher charge and he would walk completely scot-free.
So the sentencing hearing is 17th October, and all we're praying for is he gets some time in jail, even if it's not for as long as we'd like, but he could potentially be given a suspended sentence, meaning he'd walk free, but if he committed another crime he'd go straight to prison, and the jail time he'd need to serve from this case would be added on top of whatever he gets.
But yea, don't feel he should get a second chance so, come oooooon prison time.
