Liked Unseen Academicals, not Terry Pratchett's best work but still good
Just finished Iain Bank's Transitions, one of his weirder books, didn't know what the hell was going on until I'd almost finished. Still good though. His Culture books are brilliant though some his normal fiction is definitely worth reading (Crow Road, The Business, Complicity, Whit, The Steep Approach to Garbadale).
Love George RR Martins work, just wish he'd get on with finishing The Song of Ice and Fire
I've read that Saxon Benard Cornwell novel, 'tis good, he also wrote an excellent Agincourt novel.

[Potential de-railment alert!]
What is with reading in the toilet? Now I understand that your gonna be sat down for a while but are you realy going to get that far into the book in ten minuets? What if you get engrossed? You'll end up with a pair of numb legs and your jacobs will be cold. And if it's a realy toxic poo, your book is gonna stink. I know that if tested, I would probably stand one or two steps away from the average man in the street on the sanity scale. But reading in the bog just seems weird!
Sorry.
So, what you reading?

I've avoided everything but The Crow Road and The Steep Approach to Garbadale, on the basis of what others have said and how the blurbs read - murders and whatnot are meh. The Crow Road is defiantly worth a read!

The other books I like won't be you're taste so I'll save myself the trouble. And I read ~ 1-3 books in 2 weeks so it would be a long list..
Baldurdash! Rubbish! If I can read through and see recommendations for Jeremy Clarkson (no offence intended - I am not a car person though, and not a fan), I can read through a list of whatever you have read.
I always get surprised people can read so much so fast, but sci-fi books are usually pretty long, I need to find shorter reading material - I'm a little put off by the classics for this reason, despite them obviously being, well, classics!

I'd definitley give The Business a try. Try The Wasp Factory (his first book) if you want nightmares.
Edit: Also Espadaire Street, short but good.
I find Jeremy Clarkson's getting a bit too right wing for me now.

I've just got Stoker's Dracula in the post today, partly because Don Quixote has been sitting on my bed side table scaring the shit out of me by its sheer bulk for months so thought i'd just get something a wee bit shorter.
