Some issues can sometimes only be fixed with a reinstall unfortunately.... however frustrating it is
I had one for a customer recently...
me: EVault web search not working... fix please symantec?....
symantec: Ok you need to reinstall IIS7, and reinstall the EV binaries....
me: Great thanks...... *mumbles some obscenities*
But the reinstalls worked!

lol Good idea to backup your game via steam? I've been doing this and it saves a good afternoon of work (just have to re-download the latest updates) If there's lots of updates, just create a new backup.. But before you do that, backup your maps and cfg folders

By backup do you mean using that ridiculously slow and unrealiable backup utility built in in steam? Or just copying the cache files and the according game folders (that's what I do)?

Steam backup doesnt take that long.. about as long as dragging the folder manually + a min or 2 to compress.. you're left with more space on your hard drive my way (I then RAR up my backups to save more space)

Buy a new PC, and don't get it out the box. It'll always work perfectly then

Okay, so you completely wiped the tf2 folder out or did you just use the Uninstall game option in the game list?

unbind everything, and set it all back to defaults.
Then check what e does. It should be bound to the call for medic command (cant remember what the exact command is off the top of my head)
