Iv'e got the original pokemon blue in the drawer next to me, with a lvl98 blastoise (WIHOUT rare candy).

I was a priveleged child who had 2 gameboys :> got myself all 150, and a sweet certificate from professor oak to boot.

I say that when im talking to womenz, they all want some of hawts pokeballs.

Hmm some controversial choices there Hzza. SotC and LBP are two candidates for peoples games of the year and you name them worst

Lets see:

Game of the decade:

World of Warcraft. No other game has quite shaped the industry like this and destroyed/made so many lives.

Honourary mentions:

Wii Sports. So my entire family now actually wants to play a video game. That kind of says it all.
TF2. The best multiplayer FPS for the past few years.
Half Life 1/2. Polished to a shine and copied en masse.
Sims 2. While not my cup of tea it has sold more copies then anyone could have ever imagined and always seemed to be in the top 10.
Diablo 2. Never has replaying a game seemed so vital.

Games i like but not quite good enough to be game of the decade:

Left 4 Dead 1/2. If all of Left 4 Dead 2's features were in the original release it would be my game of the decade but on release it had few maps and felt a little shallow.
EBA/Ouendan. Best games on the DS bar none.
Audiosurf. I have lost way too much time on this game. Perfect for listening to new music or challenging yourself on ninja mode (gulp).
Rock Band. Getting everyone around to play on plastic controllers pretending they are in a band. Hell yes!

Agreed, nothing else has quite taken over my life the same way, I averaged something like 35 hours a week over three years. And that's just in-game, probably had another 15-20 hours per week worth of forum browswing and running gear / talent combos through home build spreadsheets and java apps.

Been free of it's clutch for over two and a half years now, since just before the Black Temple patch. No desire to go back at all really, near the end I was hating it but still logging on for the chats.

I'd certainly vote it as the most influential / important game of the decade, if not the most enjoyable ... it has it's moments but the fun bits are pretty few and far between after a while.

In the industry I don't think there would be any arguments about WoW being king of the hill in the last decade BUT this is a personal list, not a definitative "best of" . I've never played it and never had any interest in playing it, hence why its not on my list!

Exactly Hzza, this shouldn't be a journalists rant about what is good because it's popular. It's easy to do that... (Sims, World of Warcraft, Wii games...)
