Hmm my power supply is only 400w, will that be a problem. Other things its running is a Q6600 and 3 gig of ram and 500gb harddrive. (Just in case thats useful)
Also i'm assuming my pc has a pci-e slot, i have a 8600 gt atm and could that go into anything else?
If you pay the postage, I'm happy for you to try the card and send back if it doesnt work for you.

Don't think 400w will do it I'm afraid You'd need around 550 ish with your setup something like thisIf you spent the money, it'd be a nice upgrade from what you have, you'd have a really nice system in fact.. but it's up to you as it's more than you thought you'd spend

Looks like I'm only going to be able to get around £70 together, what would be best a Geforce 240 or a Radeon 4670.
My 2 year old super awesome 256Mb Radeon 3850 will be for sale soon, they do seem to holding their value and going for around £40 on ebay, any offers?

New card delayed a while due to both cars needing taxing (and MOTing) at the end of the month Very tempted to get Windows 7 instead when I have the cash.

you might actually be happier with windows 7 your card is aging, but if you dont play much other than TF2 or anything more stressful you've no need to upgrade (other than wanting better performance in general)

it would seem my g card has become more knackered and so i'm looking to upgrade. ideally want something that will keep running games a year or 2 down the line in medium to high settings like my 8800gt can handle now. 5770 would seem to be a good choice? the 5850/70 has a £100 price jump for what appears to be only a double jump in memory bit rate, not worth it i'm thinking?

The 5770 has 800 shaders, the 5850 has 1440 and the 5870 has 1600. I've read that AMD are releasing a 5830 in the next few weeks so you might want to wait until some information about it comes out.

So the lady of my life has decided to splash out on my Birthday pressie and get me a new graphics card to replace my aging Radeon 3850, the budget is £100 absolute maximum so I have a choice of a Geforce GTS250, a Radeon 5750 or 4850.
So.... which is best, let the flame wars begin.....
You know the excitements gone in your romance when the wife actively encourages you to play PC games

Prices should come down over the next month or so, production problems have apparently been resolved and AMD will probably cut the retail prices when Fermi gets a launch date.
