I hate being lied to - such as when I go for electrical goods and someone lies to try and sell insurance. I generally give them a piece of my mind and walk out
The lying is unforgivable, but as for trying to sell you some extra insurance or additional warranty this is most likely company policy.
We have a similar thing. We are expected to sell customers prolonged warranty for devices (Revenues on sales are low due to competition, so other means of income are persued). I'm so disgusted that I have to do it, and not rarely I will simply "forget" to offer it.
But there's always talk around that our boss might create internal ranking lists and employees ranking low would consequently invited to motivational talks. So the pressure is high ...
I can deal with attempts to sell me insurance, but I've had one salesperson say "you get no warranty without an extended insurance policy".. which, is utter lies..
I sympathise that employees are being forced more and more into the insurance hard sell, but I have more respect for companies that quietly offer it and don't try to fraudulently get customers to take it up
