Fine, got Left 4 Dead 2. It is almost worth £22 as an expensive campaign-lead expansion. Hope to play with some of you guys sometime

Just bought Dead Space.
A friend of mine that it was good. Guess if the game sucks I will have to hit him with a crowbar.
Nah, even so, it's based on a script by Warren Ellis, so that alone would be worth the money

It's actually pretty cool, playing it right now, must be pretty close to the end (11 hours playtime so far, chapter 11 intrestengly as well). Do yourself a favor and don't play it on hard. The mouse movement will make you rage. Disable vsync or mouse movement will make you rage even more. Wear diapers, though it's not really THAT scary.

Lol, I remember watching the prequel anime, it was...hmmm. But I enjoyed the game though. As Power says, not that scary. Think it's only a bit scary right at the beginning when you don't know what's going to happen. But after that it's not so bad, shit yourself a bit with the introduction of super fast necro-whateverthey'recalled.
And when you complete it, you get the super cool armour ^^

Dead Space is extremely competent, but lacks absolutely any originality. I quite liked some of the story, which I think was underrated by some people (Yahtzee)

And I would say DO play it on hard, because medium is way too easy on a PC.

In fact, the unlocked difficulty is way way better, because not everything drops ammo. In my opinion.

I know what you mean about the stupid mouse sensitivity though. It's endemic to games that have been ported and it's REALLY REALLY ANNOYING. Bioshock had it, I think. It's caused by an inability to disable mouse acceleration. So so so so irritating and something that always seems to get totally overlooked by everyone.

Not only is there mouse acceleration, there is also speed limit for the mouse. AND it is tied together with your framerate (which is why disabling vsync makes it much more responsible, but more inconsistent). The idea was, that your suit is heavy and you can't really spin around that fast. That... and that you can't turn around very fast with a frickin gamepad. I'm almost through the game and still can't get used to it.

I don't know what you mean about lacking originality? So far I found that every chapter has a different vibe to the previous one with some fun event thrown in. If it weren't so, I think I would fine the game boring, as it rarely really scares me (being bitten in vacuum without really knowing where the hell the beast is) and the combat is mostly the same (though pretty different to other games, which is a plus).

If you mean the story... yeah. Not that original, but at least not horrible - standard horror setting in my opinion, except it's on a space station.

Why I wouldn't recommend the hard difficulty was, because some of the fights take too long. It's not considerably harder, the beasts just take more damage and in one fight I was annoyed by it. It's not a hard fight it just takes forever (the one in the end of the bio lab sector)! Also it somewhat messes up the economy (there are shops in the game), because you're using so much more money and have either to wait a lot or sell most everything you have to get a new shiny thing when it comes along. It wasn't a bad experience, I quite like the game, but I think I'd have more fun on the medium setting - also don't think I would replay this game, maybe in a year or something, but not immediately, just because there is a new difficulty setting unlocked (didn't know that!).

For this price, I'd absolutely recommend it.

I just mean.. you know.. over the shoulder resi4 style camera, space station setting (perhaps the oldest, most played through setting of all games ever) upgradeable guns (resi4, though they did add those upgrade maps which was nice) and in the end, the difference between having to shoot an enemy in the head and the leg is pretty much non existent. You aim for the weakspot, just like in every game you've ever played.

Some of the weapons were nice, but some were so rubbish there was no point to them.

That said, it was EXTREMELY competent, and for £7 is not too bad. The sound design is what stuck to me most. Killer use of loudness.

Well yeah, but then, you're not complaining about the game, you're complained about the game mechanics. Everything has been around in SOME game or another. Pretty much all shooters are "pew pew at the enemy model". They did add something to make it different (dismemberment instead of just aiming at the enemy, upgrade maps), so it gets bonus points from me. From the setting I had a Doom 3 vibe pretty much all the time, even if that one isn't on a space station. It basically was a better Doom 3 to me.

I love the saw thingy, keeps being useful through the whole game. Otherwise I still use the first weapon and the wide cutter thingy. I sold the fourth weapon (flamethrower) and didn't like the machine gun - too conventional. Didn't try anything else.

If I recall I never liked the Ripper, then again I never upgraded it.

I loved the line cutter, always had the rifle just to deal with those little douche bag crawly things in the early stages and the gravity gun thing....that gun ruled

What can you do with the gravity gun? I never bothered to try it. I'm too poor to buy anything anyway, Suit Lvl 5 became available and I wouldn't have enough money if I sold all my shit, except for weapons.

IIRC, i think it has two firing systems, one works as a grende launcher type thing, then if someone gets too close, the next one is pretty much a shotgun. Been a while since I played though, so cant remember exactly

I have prince of persia. It's very pretty. I found the controls a complete pain to organise, and difficult to use, but i really should get back to playing it. Much prefer interaction with real people i think tbh.
