major bumpage!
So after many, many attempts to save the old one it's finally the time to really buy one.
Looking around I noticed loads of notebooks have Celeron and Pentium CPUs. I thought those went extinct years ago! Is that really enough nowadays? I mean she doesn't need much horsepower but on the other side I wanna be able to install Windows 7 without having to fear the computer will come to a crawl when the browser starts a flash video!
I mean Celeron! Those things were weak when they were new.
They are just renamed Core 2 Processors, not the original Celeron crap, at least I hope so. I use one of the Core 2 Pentium chips in the PC at work and it runs fine.
I thought there was a difference between Pentium Dual Core and Core 2 Duo. I think the Pentium Dual Cores are older?
*investigates*
Answer: Probably a difference. (Without comparing 2 similar laptops with a similar duo/pentium processor it's hard to use intel's comparison tool)
Answer (from Answers.com): Very little, actually. The Pentium Dual-Core has a smaller L2 cache, making it just slightly slower than a Core 2 Duo at the same clock speed.
