I don't see it, isn't he getting buffed?

Been tempted to buy him for ages and with these buffs I just might, I'm just annoyed at the Orianna changes which were really unnecessary.

Been tempted to buy him for ages and with these buffs I just might, I'm just annoyed at the Orianna changes which were really unnecessary.

Those are buffs but they dont compensate for the huge nerf he recently got. 2 Patches ago his ult got buggy, the casttime is almost triple of what it was before making it incredibly easy to predict and dodge, thus rendering his burstpotential zero. After more and more people discovered the bug Riot said that it was unintentional but they are going to keep it and compensate it with those buffs he just got. Still the reason Xerath was a viable and good mage was his ult giving him needed burst, now hes reduced to his stupid siege gimmick which never worked anyway.

Theres also a thread in GD that explains why hes utter shit now in detail and it has lots of upvotes, I hope Riot reverts the changes soon, I used to main Xerath in ranked, he -was- a very very strong and underrated champion, now hes completely useless.

Dont buy him in his current state.

Might actually start getting more Orianna in, I used to play her religiously on mid.

Can anyone suggest a good non-supporty non-tanky champ for a beginner. I like playing Alistar but I want/need to try something different

(not Miss Fortune though...she irritates me too much, I can't play someone I'd like to slap)

Non-supporty, non-tanky covers a very wide range. If you want to try out going mid, I might suggest Morgana, Zilean, Annie, Gragas or Ryze. Those are all very easy champs and none of them cost more than 3,2k so it shouldnt take long to unlock them.

Yes I was a bit vague but the number of champs and skills is a bit overwhelming so I wasn't sure how to be more specfic apart from the 'easy' bit

Annie's a good shout on mid for starting out, it's all I played when I started.

Ryze I wouldn't recommend, his difficulty is way too under-valued and starting out with a champion that relies on farming heavily and going tanky isn't the best call from what you said.

Depends where you want to play, easiest thing to do is just find a champ for each role and hammer them until you discover what the weakness to their playstyle is, and start playing a champion that counters that weakness.

Farming is necessary anyway unless youre playing support. Ryze is all about memorizing a 4 button-combo everytime you want to fight. If you cant do that, might aswell uninstall the game right away

Also tanky not necessary, you get that Frozen Heart or whatever it is you want in midgame, the beginning is all about farming the gold, so Ryze is a perfect champion for beginners who want to get a feel for timing, when to go in for lasthits, when to stay passive, when to cast that prison once your jungler enters. His attack range is a good learning tool since its perfect average across all other AP mids (the only ones higher are Annie, Ziggs, Zilean and -now new- Zyra).

Still think Annie's the best beginning as Q makes her a great deal easier to farm with.

Annie has alot more depth though, unlike Ryze, you can actually do some Deceiving thanks to your passive. She can also counterjungle pretty good, whereas Ryze is just there to farm lanes, get items and wreck shit. Sure playing Annie is easy as pie, but mastering her takes some time and knowledge of the game.
