I can't remember what the spawn times are like. I think they're better than CSS.
It does have humiliating deaths though.

I think it's 20 seconds at most. Though it was a bit buggy in BF2, usually the moment you wanted to respawn was the moment where the point got taken, so you wasted a couple of seconds, looking for another point. Sometimes you didn't respawn at all, until you clicked on the respawn point again...
It's not that bad though, really. Usually you are right in the action, no matter where you respawn, and you can be revived anyway if you have a good doc in the squad.

"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess? "
Much LOL Tea... .I like it. We can all win at TF2 if we never play it An epiphany for me!

They just surprisingly released a MP demo on XBOX Live marketplace. If you own a 360 (like me) go get it

The beauty of the respawn system in BF2 was that you could choose either to spawn on any point your team owned or close to the squad leader if you were part of a squad, which offered a lot of strategical possibilities.

From the latest video it seems you can now spawn near EVERY member of your squad and not only with the squad leader. Either that, or the videos of the gameplay aren't from the same round. He definately spawned with a different person every time he respawned.

yeah does seem interesting.
i think css can be up to a 5 minute wait depending on round length. it certainly can be a long time which only encourages campers. that said i enjoyed css for a long time.
so waiting on 5pm now.... (5pm uk time correct?)

Played a bit of the 360 demo (which is actually the same as the PC Beta except theres only one tier of weapons that you can unlock). I really like it, the sound is just a blast and the new class and weapons balance changes they did from BC1 is good, the Supporter (now 2 classes, Medic + Engineer) was just brutal and stressfull, heal people, repair vehicles, heal people, repair vehicles, order Airstrikes... too much

Any idea what the procedure will be on Steam, since Steam doesn't provide a beta-key?

I think if you pre-order on steam it automagically adds the beta to your games list, or you can put your beta key into steam to activate it if you pre-ordered from somewhere else.
