that was the problem. no dedicated AA in bf2. it became very easy to get a very high kill count on anything that flies.


actually i should say dedicated AA worth a damn.

gotta disagree with you on that, on certain maps where there was enough space (and view distance) you could easily coax pilots, even the better ones, to deploy their flares and get a shot on them unless they were very paranoid about getting even 1 hit on their planes. for most maps if you took your time you could take the planes out, it's just a case of knowing when and how to do it. it also usually helped if there were other people on the map trying to shoot them down so when the locked noise came on the pilot has much more trouble getting a bearing on where the AAA was coming from

A bit too many circumstances there. How often could you REALLY take down a plane with a good pilot? How often do you really have the time to lock on them and wait for the right moment? Usually, by the time they deploy the flares, they are already gaining altitude at 90° so by the time you shoot the second rocket, they are unreachable. Sure, if 3 people shoot at them at the same time, you have a chance to take them down, but on the ground you have enough shit to deal with to pay too much attention to the death from above.

EDIT: Nevermind the fact, that the AAA sites were the first priority targets every 20 seconds (or however long it took them to respawn) even for the chopper pilots.

Play.com give beta access.
Direct2Drive give beta access + the advanced weapons/armour at the start.
EA Store gives beta access (not sure about the armour shizzle)
Apparently you can get it through amazon.co.uk but it's not advertised anywhere.
Game.co.uk give "3 week demo access" + advanced stuff...not sure if that means the beta or not?!?

Might have to cancel that, whats the point in predordering a limited edition to get early unlocks, i'm not that opposed to having to unlock them by playing the game, that was after all what I intended to do with it.

I'd get it from Play, but I can't shake the suspicion that the limited edition unlocks are going to be exclusives that won't be available to everyone else.

Or they might be, but not in the same format (I'm thinking of the "Field Unlocks" for battlefield 2142 northern strike)

Does anyone have any solid data that says they'll be available to all?

EDIT forget it, on game.co.uk it says "Early Unlocks"

"Early unlocks" says to me that they'll be made available to all after a short ammount of time. "Exclusive unlocks" would be something that wouldn't be available outside of the pre-orders, like the armour in ME2.

As far as I'm aware the unlocks are earnable immediately for anyone, its just they're some of the higher tier unlocks that need game time to unlock. You could just buy the standard edition and grind those unlocks over a weekend or something. The weird thing is though the pricing is identical, the only purpose of the limited edition is to get a few extra preorders, they're not even making money off it.
