I got a new case (at last) and it's got an intake and an outtake fan. Both can be attached to the modoboard, but I only have the one port on my mobo. Which one should I attach to the mobo (For, I assume, speed control) and which should I have on full blast always?

I guess this, getting hot air out is probably more benefital to getting cool air in. Not sure though, wait for Chaos to stop playing with himself long enough to get on the forums .

lol Ideally you would want them working together.. so a fan controller or some such would be the best.. but failing that, have the exhaust plugged into the mobo as itll do a duty cycle of about 80% most of the time from there and have the intake fan at full pelt straight into the psu

Just for the hell of it, have the "out" on full throttle and the "in" one variable. With the fan at the back on at full chat, I'd imagin that you'd not hear it as much as the fan on the front. So it might be a bit quieter for you.

Or screwit! And have both on full throttle

I need to sort fans on my new system. My old one was rediculously noisy because of the cheap GPU, I mainly want to see if I can get idle fan speeds to be much lower, then pump them up when the CPU and GPU get it on. At idle/low use, there is no reason why I need to be deaf.

Investigations will start soon Got some ones which allows speed changes (Antec goodness) so should be easy whichever way.

Currently don't even bother using the speed controls on my current Mboard, due to it being a pretty boring server case and the tools being pretty crap from Asus.

If the noise dont bother you then just run em both at full whack off the PSU.

You would need to put your PC in a wind tunnel, with some fancy equipment to find the best performance of throughput of cool air.

Even then will you really be bothered that your PC is 0.000001 deg cooler cuz of it ....

I've gone w/ Ripsaw's suggestion and plugged the front one into the mobo, because it's closer to my head. Most of the noise in my case is the cpu fan awyway. Might try lining the case with some of that foam stuff.
