EDIT: they had that shit musical review girl from the escapist at the end which sucked but this raises an interesting question, what if they got yahtzee to do a segment for them? that would be too much awesome cynicism for the world to contain.

Made me giggle alot. I did leap off the sofa and make excited noises at the sight of the Sinclair ZX Specrtrum. Although I was dissapointed to find that they showed an Amiga and not an Atari ST.

I thought it was nice and light hearted. Shame it missed out some real gems of games, and did promote some seemingly arbitrarily (Wolfienstien anyone?)

Its a one off from what i can gather but i do hope to see him do more stuff on TV as i like his style.

I guess the wolfenstein review was a more general gripe at some modern games or because the original was a personal favorite of his and he wanted to have that included to compare the two. it was still fun

To answer some questions Charlie Brooker has been replying via twitter (yeah i follow CB on twitter)

Apparently they did try to get Yahtzee on but couldn't due to contractual/practical hurdles but CB added he is a fan of Yahtzee Cheesy

He also added he reviewed shit games like wolfenstein and 50 cent cos they are "entertaining"

Apparently gamswipe outdid news and screenwipe in regards to ratings Cheesy

he also Says if people want more gameswipe they should contact the BBC but he may add a games section to screenwipe in the future.

I think computer games in general should stop giving a shit whether they're considered cool by the general population. Can you imagine any other major art form caring about something like that? Can you imagine novelists being like:

"Oh no, the greater population of earth things we're all just stuffy academics, boo hoo, lets write easy, down to earth books so that they like us."

Fucking stupid. I happen to like brain dead shoot em ups that are brown and involve grown men yelling "OH SHIT" I take vast pleasure in the mental calculus required to juggle Hex before spading her and I don't CARE that hardcore shooters don't have some sort of wide ranging appeal like, I don't know, Animal Crossing.

I'm not here to convince people that my hobby is somehow virtuous and worthwhile and mind expanding (whether it is or not) and I find it sycophantic and overall, quite pandering when people do. If they don't want to get into the boat, fuck em.
