I stumbled upon this and thought the idea was so good but was so let down by gameplay, graphics, itself
yet this
video seems to sell it to me quite well.
essentially you play a soldier at the battle of little bighorn battling away Indians with Custer when just as you are about to get killed some future dude grabs you into this electro bubble and transports you to safety.
You then go on this rip roaring ride through the American civil war and first world war trying to locate and save certain important individuals. Most of the time you are using weapons of that era but every now and then you get to unleash hell with your future arsenal.
There is even a bit in ww2 where you get trapped in a massive POW camp but your buddy breaks you out, Only the flare he used as a distraction was actually planted by you so once your out you have to go back in time to plant it (it's gone all bill and ted)
Now i really liked the idea but it was so poorly done. Lots of railroading but occasionally it's really difficult to work out what that one path is you need to take and sometimes the path you are on and the one you need to be on are separated by a knee high fence which of course you cant jump so you have to back track.
Also the graphics are appalling, anything in the distance appears as a 2-D amiga-esque pixilated being until you get close enough for them to suddenly develop an extra dimension.
The most fun is using future weapons on yankees/rebels/huns/romans (yeah you even go to Pompeii). But they are usually few and far between and obviously ammo aint lying about the place for those guns.
There is an upgrade route for your old weapons which involves not killing other certain important individuals who glow blue during your missions, you basically either need to stun them or shoot em in the leg or something, and getting points after the mission. only thing you don't really get to upgrade is the musket and you better get used to it's single shot capability cos you end up using it a LOT! Though there is something to be said about running through a corn field under several volleys of enemy fire using your comrades as human shields only to end up face to face with several rows of rebel troops and have to stand there like 10m away having a good old shoot out.
to summarise i hated the gameplay but loved the idea
