If you can use the various controllers on consoles, or want something for people to play when they are around a TV, a console is preferable.

Not sure much else comes into it for me. I've got a Wii, partially for that but mainly to play some of the unique games I've still not finished, heh.

well im sure theres some fun to be had playing gears and if i had an xbox then i would, but gears isnt appealing enough for me to get the pc version so its not appealing enough to buy a console to play it either. its just something youd buy because you wasted all that money on an xbox and had to justify that by playing something.

@Rippy, the next FF is the first one to be released on ex-bawks and PS3.
@t3rribl3on3, I think the slim is about the same size as the old PS2v1 (the huge fucker).

I have a PS3 and mainly use it as a DVD player, not even a blu-ray player and for the occasional game of FIFA09. TBH I probably use my PS2 as much, if not more! The mulitplatform games that are out for it I get on PC and I haven't seen a single exclusive to justify actually buying the console for. All in all, totally not worth getting it but as it was a Christmas prezzie I can't complain too much! Can't say much for the ex-bawks except RROD.

Do it, you can get the slims for less than £100. Ico/SotC might set you back a fair bit though looking at £40 each! I know this because I've been looking for both of them for a while now .

i got my ps3 for free in a contract upgrade no way id fork out for one id always spend the cash on a bike or pc bits instead.

i love the ps3 for gran turismo, grid, buzz, tiger woods etc. Mainly racing games and a few multi players when people are over. I got killzone 2 and thoguh it looked amazing i hated it as the controls just sucked compared to a pc. That was the moment i decided id never get another FPS game for a console or RTS for that matter. 

I also have a wii which rarely gets used. Wii fit was a huge waste of money for me. I will get wii Sports Resort soon though as my fav game for it is Wii sports and that just adds a little more in the mix. Great for making drinking games any way.

Well one of the upcoming games, which is exclusive so far is Drake's Fortune II - which is similar to the Tomb Raider franchise and was impressive with the first installment already. Then there is Heavy Rain, by the makers of Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, though the gameplay is somewhat divisive (a lot of quick-time-events, though that didn't bother me much). I'm not really following the game line-up for neither system, as I still prefer playing on PC with the only exceptions of Guitar Hero/Rock Band series and fighting games.

I think there are quite a lot of good games on both consoles, but even for the technically impressive shooters (Killzone, Resistance2 on PS3 and GoW2 on 360) the one thing that kills it for me is aiming with the fucking analog sticks. Tried the Battlefield Bad Company demo on PS3 and it's fricking enraging. How do console fans play like this?

Also, Warhawk on PS3 seems to be a rather solid Battlefield "clone" - but again, aiming with sticks.

Oh and there is that MAG game, which is a multiplayer battlefield with 256 people or something? Looks very impressive, but again.. aiming with sticks, just like making fire with sticks!!!

drakes fortune is pretty fun, ive played it a bit. So laughably racist though, you are a douchebag american treasure hunter who happily murders people to get the treasure and the only difference between you and the mercenaries on the island who murder people for treasure is they're not american and can't aim. And then after you finish ethnic cleansing of all the hispanics, africans, and asians on the island you fight some zombies (in an old nazi sub base OMG! never saw it coming) and then the bad guy turns out to be british. Except hes not really the bad guy because just as hes about to laugh evilly and have you killed he gets shot.

Sorry for the spoilers its a pretty fun game to play but the story is poor anyway so youre not losing anything. I think basically think indiana jones but the character got replaced by an annoying douchebag who appeals to the american mainstream

Also...don't forget that with consoles you usually have to spend a fortune on the games...a lot of new releases are often £40-50 whereas the most you'll pay on the PC is usually £35. Plus you rarely get updates as in the case of TF2 on the Xbox.

I have an xbox 360 that was given to me as broken, I fixed it - and I still don't use it enough to warrant having it. I will always use a pc for my gaming. I don't have any friends anyway and I'll be damned if people are gonna come round *just* to play on my games console.

paying for patches is fail. whats that our game is broken but ohho we are microsoft. 200 MS points please to fix our broken game. (made that up but id be surprised if its not true).

I do know TF2 can't be patched because it exceeds the memory limit so its full of people who can still walk outside the level. And L4D valve has to bundled patches with the DLC as it is to avoid MS dropping the hammer and charging for every small bugfix.

They don't charge for patches, but you always have to pay for DLC.
