Don't think I'll actually buy either of these, but does anyone have anything to weigh in with? I'm assuming as it's WDG it won't turn into a flame fest.

I'm mainly interested in what features the consoles do outside of games, and what games they have that I wouldn't be better off just upgrading my PC for.

... sounds like a flame topic to me. but theres not many exclusives generally anymore anyway. they just do douchy timed exclusives like how sony are making us europeans wait for ghostbusters, and not being able to play ps2 and xbox games sucks because those actually have decent exclusives i havnt played yet and would have considered buying a console for. HDDVD is dead so the xbox really has nothing to offer whatsoever as well as the neverending hardware failures. I'd get a ps3 if anything because at least then youd have bluray and some different games (PC and Xbox being fairly easy to develop on both so i assume similar library available). I guess theres all the xbox live stuff but I know youre not a massive achievement whore and worse you have to pay for xbox live. LittleBigPlanet i suppose can't really think of any other ps titles

Gears of War is good if you're into that kind of games.
I've heard good stuff about Little big planet and fat princess.

Some of the games are shamelessly earlier released on consoles (aaargh, red faction where are you?) or run way better (GTAIV).


Playing on consoles is more "relaxed", you never play PC games on your couch or bed.

Well I would probably plug the console into my games monitor, so would play it sitting in my computer chair. It'd be just like being on my computer. Only I'd be on a console.

Top ranking games for each console, looks pretty slim picking to be honest.

I know X360 has Netflix, not sure about Playstation 3.

I think the PS3 has something for streaming movies from the web, but you have to buy it (vaguely remember reading Jerry from PA mentioning it)

Pretty sure they can both act as media players on your local network if you set up a UPNP media server (think windows media player or iTunes work)

The PS3 can stream videos from BBC iPlayer, but y'know, you can do that on your computer too.

I think I'm just going to get a Blu Ray drive for my computer. Neither of these consoles seem to have much going for it.

I was actually in the position of "360E Vs PS3s" on monday. I now own a PS3 slim.

i really like the ps3. it has better graphics and a blue ray drive. though the slim isnt really that much slimmer than the standard one i have

Also I belive that the PS3 has a wireless network, where as the Xbox is wired. So for me I'd need to run network cables accross my living room so as to wire up a Xbox.

I suppose it comes down to personal taste. Sony have the rights to final fantisy [don't quote me on that] and Microsoft have the Gears of War [also I may be wrong].

At the end of the day I own a Wii, so what do I know?

You can buy a Wireless Adapter for the 360, but it's kinda pricey for functionality the other two consoles of this gen have as standard.

gears doest count, because it sucks weiners and you can play the first on the pc, presumably they will slowly get round to porting the 2nd but i havn't cared enough to play the first yet.
