I'm sure that the minigun USED to be able to shoot stickies mid-air. Don't think it can at present. Used to be pretty effective if I recall, but we're probably talking about early days of TF2 (2007) when the heavy had no running gloves, natascha, sandvich etc. Goalkeeper sounds a pretty bad idea tbh... further balance issues if it doesn't come with a very big drawback for the heavy.

presumably its just got a crap damage output because you are expected to win your fights by shooting their projectiles

Perhaps they should just, I don't know...maybe drop the idea completely? There's already a counter-projectile class - it's called a Pyro - we don't need another. The main way to take down a heavy is to get spam on him when he is within range. Who are the main spammy classes? Soldiers and Demos. Oh, and what is their main damage output? Oh, shi-! It appears to be projectile based. Unless this mingun has a serious damage nerf (100% should do it) or maybe he'll take more damage from projectiles (maybe four direct 100+ damage pipes will actually kill heavies this time, we can only dream of course because we all know Valve will make a weapon that makes the Heavy crit 90% of the time before that idea gets even a moments thought - oh wait, that weapon's called the Minigun - my mistake. ). Can you stop making Heavy a bullshit class now, Valve? Sandvich was a great addition, Natascha was borderline but the recent version is fine, GRUs pretty much threw up on the line and the original design philosophy for the Heavy (maybe disable the second slot with the GRUs equipped so then they're reliant on Medics and health pickups rather than being able to drop a sandvich for a quick health pickup) whilst this new (potential) weapon (which doesn't appear to be in line to be beta tested first -- at the time of writing) pretty much cancels out the means to spam a Heavy down and instead limits being able to take down a Heavy to the One Hit kill assassin classes (Sniper and Spies) which is pretty pathetic to say the least. /qq

Usually I'd say let's wait until we see it in the game before we call it unbalanced. But this time I'll say: let's wait at least until we see the stats before we call it unbalanced
