Just interested to hear people's thoughts on KOTH. I think it's kind of fun with small teams (like 4v4), but 10v10 feels ridiculously spammy and makes me want to rage quit. I actually prefer arena!

Seems to be a love or hate thing so far... What does everyone make of it?

Seems like a better version of arena to me. Better meaning not having to sit out (I know there are plugins that fix that, but that's not official). Basically it's Arena with longer rounds and respawn to me...

Didn't like Arena much, though as I never felt the need for deathmatch in TF2 (arguably, dustbowl CP 2-1 and 3-1 IS deathmatch).

Just feels like a really long fight for mid in a 5-point CP map: with smaller teams is tactical and fun, in larger teams spammy, frustrating and not fun.

I agree with the comments on team sizes. I've only played with relatively large teams so far and it always ends up ridiculously one sided. I wouldn't mind trying some 6v6 games on KOTH maps though.

I agree with it being the middle point in 5 cps maps. However, the big battles at the beginning of a 5cp map is pretty much my favorite part - it's spammy, but in a good way.

The problem I see is, that even if the teams are slightly unbalanced, it turns into spawnrape quickly. Plus most people play it more like deathmatch than going after the point lately. I dunno why that has changed so much, but at the beginning I've seen matches where capturing the point 6 times (each team!) or more wasn't unusual at all, lately it seems to be 3 times for both is normal

Same as everyone else has said, fun with small teams, as it actually goes back and forth.
I do think as soon as you throw an engineer in to the mix though, it just kinda ruins it. In a nut shell, level's too small (i.e. sentry pretty much locks down a point), capture time is too short. Not if there isn't an engineer, but as soon as there's a sentry covering the point, co-ordination is needed which might be a good thing, but takes time. And with only 3 minutes on the clock, it pretty much ensures a win for the other team. Kinda defeats what I assume the koth was suppose to be, a push-pull map on a much smaller, more intense scale.

Also, I reckon the time it takes to take over the point should be way shorter. If you can get onto the point cos no-ones there since they're all off killing over on your side, surely that means they're not on the hill, therefore they are not the "king". What I mean is, the point shouldnt be able to be left unguarded, and then people can just come back when someone does try to cap

I voted good, but only for smaller teams.. I played on the BOX? server as they have a KOTH one now, and at 12v12 is a right slaughterfest but at about 4v4/6v6 its a good fight

I actually like nucleus and find it more tactical than some of the other ones which are just:

"Sit on the point and get spammed"

Nucleus requires you to take the point, then take up tactical positions.
