Making a grand, or so? Dude what the hell I'd be going nuts if I made a hundred. Hmm it seems you know your maths very well, which is something I can admit to slouching on. Strangely enough, knowing that you've successfully gambled makes me respect you a lot more!

Only sort of real betting I did for a while was this long winded tactic where you go to internet casinos and basically cash in on the sign up bonus by playing blackjack, betting £1 untill you've bet the required amount. It was boring...I got £50 out of it though

My housemates fancy themselves as gamblers. One of them likes to go to the casino after a night out (i.e. after he's been clubbing) and one of them loves his cheeky dinks on betfair/ladbrokes (but he always plays for small money i.e. 50p a bet and on stuff that's just higher than evens (if not lower). The other one loves playing poker, but will never play for anything less than £5-10 per person because "what's the point?" He usually takes it very seriously and given the chance he would be one of those players that plays til 8am because he doesn't want to split the pot.

I like to join in a little bit with each of them, i'll play a low stakes poker game or put a few betfair bets on occasionally. Went to the casino a couple of times and won £20 or so. Two of my housemates went on one night and they had a raffle to win a free bet but the person with the winning ticket had left so the croupier came over to them with a bunch of tickets and said here - one of these is a £50 free bet, go nuts. They put a matched bet on and came away with £100 each. Jammy gits.

I played some poker online with startmoney from some pokersites. Finally I made 45 € and a card set out of it ....
I'd like to play it more often in real life - but all of my people are too lazy or aren't taking it serious enough.

This is how to make money out of gambling, you have to work the bookies systems.

For instance no-one can out research them on sports. so you have work with them. such as for an England match all the UK bookies will get far more bets on England than the foriegn team,
 so they have to offer shorter odds on England and longer odds on the other team to balance thier books. that is where you make your money.

Yeah I watched High Stakes for a while, it's really good! I do like Sammy, but he annoys me a little because, (well just like all the others) he's quite arrogant.

As for friends being lazy to play, tell me about it! I would play everyday if I could. Online poker for low stakes just doesn't cut it!

@Guilt: Teach me your ways. Seriously. Most of what you say is pure logic, but it's things the punters don't think about. Playing the system, like you say, is the only way to win and therefore you've got to play the odds. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I am entirely impressed and now hold you in high regard as a minor god of gambling. All you need to do now is win WSOP and I will rate you higher than Jesus. (sorry mode!)

I can hold up my hand to being a pretty regular Hold'Em player. My boat is not called the River Card by accident. I love the game, play a lot with family and friends. Played a cash game in the States earlier this year and got taught an expensive lesson in bottle...
