Nice, I'm hitting 70degrees full load on my Q6600 @ 3GHz. Can't really do any better as it's a SFF case and the CPU is passively cooled by the PSU fan above it.
Had a crack at overclocking it further last night, but I think my Northbridge is limiting me, get crashes any time I try and push much above 333FSB and more volts doesn't help. Still, it'll last me another year or two, not really struggling with anything atm. Upgrading will have to wait until
a) I get a job and
b) I've built the new File server I've been dreaming about, which is looking to be an expensive beastie (planning on a 16 or 24 hotswap drive rackmounted monster, running ZFS RAID 10 on Solaris, which'll probably cost me in the region of £1500) It's that or start deleting stuff :/ Who said Pirating was free?
I expect that what I'll end up doing is a temporary solution based around an
HP Microserver which you can get at the bargain price of £105 after cashback, Quidco and discount vouchers. With a couple of 2TB drives it'll tide me over and might make a useful NAS/HTPC for a relative when I no longer need it.
