The other plus is multitasking, Even on quad core I get little to no performance drop if I'm ripping a blueray to m2ts file, and playing TF2 at the same time.

Surely that supports the quadcore? (either cheaper or faster for same price).

Damn this is a good month, free i7 setup through the work tech pot so i get to but it vat free.
then i got the dh bike
its also bonus month too and my review for it went well i got a good score so ill find out what the bonus will be on monday

anyway here is what i currently have planned to get for my new build:

i could do with shaving a few pounds off that figure though as i may be a little over what's in my share of the tech pot. Any advice welcome.

I can only order from ebuyer though so any alternative recommendations will  need to be available from there.

Going i5 instead of i7 will save you at least £200. All it costs you is Hyperthreading (4 cores is plenty anyway) and Tripple channel DDR - which has negligible benefit over dual channel.

MSI is knocking 55% off the launch cost of their P55 (i5) board when it's released on the 8th (yes, at eBuyer too), bringing it down to £63 whilst stocks last. - http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=20048

The i5 2.66Ghz should cost around £140, So that's a potential saving of around £250 if you go that route ... which should be enough to get a 5870.

You seem to have forgotten a graphics card

Also, I would swap that ram for something different.. OCZ is good, but the Gold series is crap IMO. Crucial or G.Skill is the bollox and its around the same price.. You wont need 1600Mhz unless your a serious overclocker. So I would go for some 1333Mhz stuff with better timings as you'll see a better performance payoff..

And again, steer clear of the Asus X58board... go for Gigabyte or EVGA as you'll have better options and it'll most likely give you the budget headroom you're after.. For serious performance and overclocking headroom, go for foxconn.. those boards are the bollocks!

My recomendations are these mobo / Ram (ebuyer doesnt have much of a ram selection)

cheers for the advice i think ill go for the board and ram you said, im not getting a gc as i want to build a really fast system and get a new card once the dx 11 ones are released so ill have to stick with my 9500gt for now
