Surprised there hasn't been a topic on this already.

I'm a big fan of Operation Flashpoint so this game just brings back so many memories. I'll let youtube do the talking (the game is worth getting alone for the editor and what you can create)

the game isn't for everyone, it's very realistic and the learning curve is the biggest i've ever experienced

The problem I have with ArmA 2 is that it seems to be all war simulator and not much game. A lot of the videos never show the person doing much, with AI having all the fun while you watch. Still interested though, enjoyed Flashpoint (especially the multiplayer) a lot. Now, a well made MMO based on that sort of thing- that I'd go for. I miss Planetside.

yeah, its like a smaller version of ArmA and that still bores me to tears so this can't be good

It sounds interesting if you can get involved in a good squad, although I've no idea how it handles objectives or whatever. I'm also interested in AI, so an AI army is a pretty neat background and enemy force to play with or against too.

i agree that the AI does seem to have some of the fun moments but this game is about being realistic and obviously war isn't all about 1 person fighting off everything the other army can throw at them. still doesn't mean you can't have fun though, it's just that you work as a team and you all have your seprate roles to play, just life tf2

yep and i hated it too. i think i did because i was playing bf2 then and was still in the gung-ho mode where i thought i could just run around and kill people, works in bf2 but not in PR

I miss Planetside.

I did too... until I played it again.  A game best left to fond memories.

ARMA II looks good, just don't have enough time to play it.

I don't know, I haven't played it, I don't actually own the game yet but I would imagine that it would be better by now.

there aren't to many game breaking bugs although the friendly AI can have the habit of ignoring your commands and being slaughtered. it's a very slow and patient game that captures the essence of a firefight and can't really be compared to anything other than it's predecessor, operation flashpoint.

it can be a common theme if you're playing MP that you could be running for 5 minutes to reach an objective to be shot and instantly die with no idea where the shot came from. you really need patience to play the game, especially to get results since firefights usually take place over 100's of meters rather than feet
