I am surprised there's not a sticky or something for this.

Anyway, ATM I'm not looking for any parts as such, but instead looking for external hard drives. Problem is, I need some specific things - and want to wait and see what pops up on various sites.

Wouldn't recommend http://www.eclipse-computers.com/, they are based only half a mile from me. Customer service and stock is terrible. there are sometimes cheap but if anything went wrong with your order they are a nightmare, know many people who have had trouble.

http://www.ballicom.co.uk/ are alright, mainly business so not a massive range but prices are generally good.

I forgot ebay, yeah, because I never use it in fact. I prefer new components, I don't buy often and prefer a warranty (especially in the case of external hard drives I also don't want old data on them).

Eclipse, I lived in Coventry for a year, so they were local for a few items. Never really take them seriously though. Dabs at least has a good, usable site which is more then I can say for places like Amazon, sadly.

Thanks so far, checking them all out. I forgot that http://play.com sometimes do hardware, and seem to be doing more of it. I've found a external eSata/USB RAID external drive which is what I was looking for, and willing to pay for (despite the cost, heh).

Edit: Well, it was a starting point anyway, found same thing cheaper on Amazon, where the search is so sucky I couldn't even find comparable products

if you're going to the I series LAN, Scan often have a booth and you can sign up for free shipping there - no forum posting required!

Typically it was broken when i went to sign up (at the end on the last day). really need to get round to making my 40 posts sometime.
