Really sorry it hurt the game for you guys, if anyone said anything I didn't notice, was too absorbed in the game. If I had I'd have pushed for more variety but it was working so well I think the team was really enthusiastic about it. Sad
Seriously mate, it's fine, I wasn't having the greatest night (play wise, is always funny, I was just sucking) anyway, a ragequit was almost inevitable to be honest!

Agreed. Just means that you work differently.

As a heavy, I try not to be caught in the open against multiple soldiers. However, I'm sure they're not invincible.

Depends, in maps where scouts can dick all over everyone (badlands) I doubt it can be as simple as whoever's got a medic buddy. A good scout will spend most of his time picking off members of the team, avoiding the ? + Medic combo unless he's sure of a medic pick.

But if we're talking about equal skill level, Demoman does the most damage, is the fastest to the Mid, can defend, attack, escape, uber and kill better than pretty much all the other classes. His only problem is good scouts.

Fixed. Slightly.

Good demo men are the bane of my life (heavy or not). They deny ground, drive you into sniping zones and distract you from spies. Coupled with superior firepower and the ONLY real class that can get close to a 3 sentry takedown with the sentries in different places (I've done this only once).

I agree that scouts are one of the biggest issues for demo men - specifically at very close range.

In my experience, good Scouts can win against any class in 1on1. However the second more people come into play, his efficiency drops off rapidly, which can be easily observed by them being relatively useless on goldbowl, especially on offense.

As far as I'm concerned, the only downside of playing as a demo is reload-management, if you are not careful, you'll be in a position when you don't have anything to shoot with when you need it.

From here on, it's only upsides:
Even against good scouts at very close range, a demoman player who has very good aim/prediction skill only need 2 hits at most, usually one, to put the scout down and that is WITHOUT the limiting of the scouts movement that are stickies. Yes, as a scout I'm never scared of a demo, but it's only because most of them can't hit "randomly" moving targets to save their lives. Someone who picks the right time to fire and who aims where he should aim will take you out without a problem.

Demo has the highest damage output out there. I mean not only the amount of shots he can do without having to reload, but also the pure DPS value. The only class who can do more damage is a close range heavy if I remember correctly. (Sniper and Spy with their insta-kill ability are obv. not directly comparable here Tongue)

So what we have on our hands with the demo is a class, that is faster than soldier, has projectiles, which can be shot at faster speed than soldiers rockets and do more damage per second as well. Has area denial effect as well as the possibility of an indirect hit (shooting from cover without exposing himself). Incredible mobility with his sticky jump and a 1-2 hit killing ability for almost every class there is. I'd say he is stronger than soldier, but harder to master, which is why soldier is usually regarded as more versatile, but demo always was (and still is) the king of TF2.

No, you didn't.
I just couldn't resist to hark back on the inital point of the thread where we talked about a team (almost) entirely composed of a single class being able to dominate a mixed team.

And while Power is probably right in his assessment I think higher numbers of demos add less to a team than a higher numbers of soldiers would (depends a bit on the map, though)
